Pilot, paraphrasing:
Mal - Can I get a reward, for helping turn over Simon?
Fed - You think I'm a backbirth, you are just as culpable!
Mal - Well, that has an effect on the landscape.
Mal now will assist Simon, be at odds with Fed.
Our Mrs. Reynolds, at the end, Mal and Saffron. She mentions or describes something like "when we meet again" or similar.

Not sure if mentioned, just noticed on this topic that in Shindig, when River rips the labels off the cans, Jayne says "Do that in public, get herself hauled off" and that seems like foreshadowing.

There is one scene that I have always thought was deliberate foreshadowing, but the series didn't last long enough to get to the payoff.
Serenity, the pilot:
Simon - "I'm trying to put this as delicately as I can. How do I know you won't kill me in my sleep?"
Mal - "You don't know me son, so let me explain this to you once. If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed."

Why I dislike Malcolm Reynolds. "She's a whore," is one.
The time he lets Simon know that he'd only kill him "in a fair fight."
Reynolds is a gunslinger -- could face off with Wyatt Earp.
Offering to draw against a rank amateur isn't my notion of fair.
It's a pretense of fair.

Wow, that almost sounds sacrilegious. I can't find fault with it except to say, I can't see Malcolm killing Simon without good reason and I can't see Simon giving him a reason. The whore part I got no argument with you about that. It's definitely in poor taste and underserving.

I love the show & the humor as any good Browncoat. I really like most
of the crew. Captain Reynolds has his good points, but basically, I
just tolerate him.
A brief TV show with a huge fan base of diverse personalities, this
fanatically loyal ... a lot of us are going to be sacreligious about
this and that.

I thought this had been discussed before. I consider your take to be misdirected.
Mal hates the Alliance.
Inara represents the Alliance. Her letting the Alliance run her life, subjecting herself to the giant thumb of the Alliance, is what he is referring to when he mentions whoring.
The double meaning due to her occupation is what he hides behind (rebels, innependents are not taken kindly by the likes of the Alliance - so he can't speak openly about his dislike of purplebellies.)
Nobody else on his crew has a greater working relationship with the Alliance.
If he is actually in fact solely targeting the sexual application of the term instead of the political, then I conjure it is due to his jealousy. Or wanting to get a rise out of her.
Otherwise he doth protest too much.
