Being "against murder" doesn't mean that you execute murderers. Isn't that doing what murderers do? Kill in cold blood for political and personal ends?

The funny thing is, the death penalty is something I've changed my mind about .... twice! I grew up being against the death penalty because that was the household norm. Then, I got the idea of vengeance, and for a decade or so I supported the death penalty. But on further reflection, I see that it's just inconsistent with my other morals. Mistakes are made, innocent people are murdered (by the state) and the funny thing is... it doesn't even work to reduce crime.

Too true. And a justice system that doles out vengence instead of justice is truly flawed.

I've never supported the death penalty. It seems inconceivable here, as the last execution was in the 1960's before it was removed. Every now and then you get people braying for it, a particularly onus crime occurs, but luckily it goes no further.

Like torture, execution corrupts the State that performs it.

But its too much sophisticated thinking for Neanderthal 1 and Neanderthal 2 here.
