First of all, let's hope this isn't true.
But I posted about that here just to demonstrate that there are a lot of "beliefs" that will cause people to commit atrocities. Sometimes that belief is in a particular god (ie it's a religion) but sometimes that belief is in the superiority or purity of a group of people. Sometimes that belief is in intangibles like "freedom" (a god-given "inalienable" right which is yet somehow taken away from people) and sometimes the belief is in money or the power of greed.
Beliefs make people do strange things.

I think you honestly can admit that his has nothing to do w/ a random, isolated and brutal event, but is in fact a global scourge on all humanity.
Kinda sad that after 200 posts in this thread alone, you'd try to pull this sort of stunt, but I guess it's in keeping to who you are.

I read that article and posted it here with a shock of recognition - that it was very much like that Jordanian pilot burned alive- and you think it's just a "stunt"?
It just goes to show that we live in entirely different mental landscapes. What I got out of seeing the article and connecting it to this thread is that beliefs drive a LOT of brutality across the world, and it doesn't really make much difference what the belief is if it ends in the same result. Does it matter if some people believe they are purer than others and starve them, gas them, burn them, or work them to death? Or that their god is better than somebody else's god, so they cut the infidels' throats or hack them to death with machetes? Or spread disease among them? Does it matter WHAT the belief is, if it leads to the same end?
Yes, Islam is a frightening religion. I've read enough of the Q'uran to know that -more than modern Christianity - it advocates violent conversion of the infidel, and even worse treatment of the apostate. (Modern Xtianity at least has the leavening of the New Testament to make it less horrific.) But Islam isn't the ONLY belief structure which leads to horror. Some people point to Hitler, some people point to Mao, and some people point to Stalin as being just as horrible, and there are even more examples today and throughout history. I just don't see Islam as The Only source of extremism. It's on the shelf with a bunch of others.

al Qaeda, Boko Haram, the Taliban, ISIS, the govts of Iran, Saudia Arabia, from the middle east, n. africa and through out Europe and S.E Asia, more violence in committed by so called followers of Allah than all other religions combined, and it's not even close.
For you to try to diminish these facts w/the attempted " yeah, but... " and then interject some random, rare and completely unrelated matter where you show other forms of deplorable violent acts , only shows you have your head in a pillow case.
Yeah, humans have been inhuman and cruel to each other and everything else on this planet for 1000's of years. But that's not the issue of TODAY.
TODAY, the most pressing twisted group of violent zealots pray on a rug, 5 times a day. When they're not raping and sawing heads off infidels, that is.

It was just a few short years ago this used to happen in the US because some folks thought god had ordained whites to be superior, and blacks were subhuman.
Notice how proudly the whites pose with their victims.
And lynching wasn't restricted to men 
or adults.
Sometimes there was a sale on lynching.
And victims weren't only hung. Some were burned alive.
Sometimes homes were set on fire and whole families burned! I bet THAT was exciting!
Some got a two-fer: they were burned, THEN hung!
Notice the guy on the lower right. He's doing his best smiling for the camera.
An uncounted number were merely beaten to death.
And yet, some say the Christian god is a peaceful god.
