I was completely disappointed in this movie. I was tempted twice to get up and walk out, but after all the hype and SMG, I figured it just had to get better. Right? Wrong.

Nothing about this movie grabbed me. The direction was flat. The plot was lame. The acting was pretty mediocre at best. The scares were even pretty generic.

I would highly suggest saving your money and not see this film. Instead, save it and go see Serenity and extra time.

So the movie sucks that much and somehow it managed to be #1 at the box office with a $40 million take?!

I was just amazed to see that The Grudge was #1 at the box office over the weekend - way ahead of #2. I'll bet, after the word-of-mouth gets around on this film, that there's a big drop-off by next weekend.

I am saving my money for Serenity and planning on seeing it about 20 times over the first two weeks.

See, this is what I don't get. Why do people go see movies based purely on the advertising campaign? For that matter why do the media report on opening weekend like it is the be-all-end-all in determining the success or failure of a movie?

BAAAA!

I've also wondered about the big Box Office Opening Weekend.

I haven't seen this movie, and I don't think I will, but.... It cost only $10 million to make and in the first 3 days it made $40 million.

That's a huge business success. I feel bad for the paying customers like Sarge who got ripped off. But damn! I hope Serenity makes that much opening weekend.

Don't feel too bad. It wasn't my money. I had a pretty good idea what it would be like.

I almost hope they just don't promote Serenity at all. But if I had my druthers it'd just be me and a few friends in the theater.

I'm kinda glad I found this thread I was considering going to see this, purely because SMG was in it. After reading this I think I'll just wait and save me money for Serenity. At this rate I'll be able to see it on more thatn a few occasions since most of what Ive seen this year so far has been dross.....give up now save the pennies...except for House of the Flying Daggers I will go to see that.

Don't they show cheap movies on Campus anyways? If not, your AS really needs help.
