An absolutely brilliant film on all levels. I don't care about any of the awards anymore, but if there's any justice then Michael Keaton will get his first Oscar nomination, if not the win. Edward Norton should also be a given for Supporting Actor, and Emma Stone did an excellent job as well. Writing, direction, camera-work, sound and production design, are all near perfect.

It edges out Boyhood for my favorite of the year.

Really? I know absolutely nothing about this movie besides its title. Never made my radar except vaguely negative feelings.

Hey - I know why! Colbert went to comic con dressed as some freakish and ridiculous superhero that was Bird-Man-ish. I don't recall the details. But I've been associating this movie with that silliness. Too funny!

Thanks for the course correction. I respect your movie opinions. I'll try to get to this one - but until then I will preserve my ignorance. I prefer to go to movies knowing nothing if I can mange it.

I haven't seen this flick yet, but it's already getting plenty of "Oscar" buzz. I'd love to see Keaton win some awards.

Thanks. I'm sure there was some FX and CGI involved with those shots, but as with everything else it was done so well as to seem natural.

Well EC, you were right on the money. Best Picture, Keaton was nominated, as was Norton. Also Best Director.

Bravo!

Yeah, overall I was pleased with the awards this year, in spite of the fact that Keaton didn't win. Redmayne also did an incredible job in The Theory of Everything.

So is it just great cinematography and acting or does it have a good plot as well? Note: I'm not a hollywood insider. I don't have any particular connection or deep rooted feelings about the industry.

I'm far from an insider myself, just a long time film buff. Did you read my review - http://templetongate.net/birdman.htm - ? I think I did a good job of detailing the story without spoiling too much. I cannot recommend it highly enough, but my taste in films might not correspond with yours.

Just watched it again. Still fantastic. When I opened the package I had an odd feeling that HD-DVD was making a comeback since the case is red instead of blue.

I'm going to watch the extras after Gotham.
