On my daily checkups on real life comics, I found what looks like Serenity! This could be a steel replica of our bird, or it could just be coincidence... http://www.reallifecomics.com/daily.php?strip_id=1303

The resemblance is there, no doubt. This one has guns, though. Or at least what looks like guns.

If I remember correctly, there was a previous reference to the DVDs, wasn't there? It could be the space dementia, but I'm fairly certain that there was...

That's totally her. Just remove the blasters and you got our bird! Shiny.

From the following strip, when we see the Star-Trekkian bridge, I'm guessing those barrels on the wings are the ion cannons, and the three central guns are the plasma launchers.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: thanks for pointing it out! Unfortunately, I read the comic at 5am, while trying to wake up for the day ahead, so I actually
missed the similarities.
Sad, I know. But again, thanks for pointing it out!
I did find the Star Trek-like controls a little disappointing this morning, but I immediately realized that it would be incredibly hard for Greg to do the gritty, realistic controls found in Serenity in the comic. So I forgave him.
On that topic, I highly recommend the strip, by the way. I'd even recommend buying his Year One book, if you like his work. ( https://starlinemedia.net/xcart/home.php) It's a great way to help pay him back for the incredible work he does (again, if you like the strip), and has the side benefit of giving you a great book of comics to read for years to come.
