Q: Why announce that you failed to release him ? Doesn't that only embolden ISIS all the more, knowing the U.S. tried to move directly at them only to fail, and then they end up killing the hostage anyway ?

And why burn any possible intel leads you had by revealing this plan ? Hell, even if it failed, you know how reliable and accurate your source is, and now so does ISIS.

You're a crack pot. He said what he said about ISCEL being a JV team based on his intelligence reports. As for the failed mission, I say bravo for authorizing it. That is as far as his involvement goes. The rest is on the intel and those who carried out the mission. To them I say bravo and good try; stay safe.

To you Rappy I say wow you must be a very capable guy. We need you running the show. Sorry the rest of us keep letting you down. You need to get back into the world of facts and reality. Apparently you have read nothing about on this has been going on.

For asking a basic question ? Really ?

Would those be the reports he barely reads ? And never talks to the ones who WROTE those reports ?

I agree. Does that make you a crackpot too ?

Point is, why go broadcasting to the world and to ISIS that you even TRIED to save Foley and the other hostages, when you failed and now he's dead ? Sure, we expect you to have TRIED , but not to announce your failures.

And FYI, there are ALWAYS U.S. citizens who are captured and held captive by SOME group, all around the world. It just doesn't always get reported. So that's nothing new that Obama has had to face, and not other Presidents. Usually these things get taken care of through back channels.

Why choose 'transparency ' now, when your govt has been so damned secretive about so many more important things ( like targeting citizens with the IRS because of their political affiliation ) ?

Not the rest of you, just Obama.

Yes, it was obvious it was a cynical question.

Biased innuendo and again cynical.

That's debatable, to me it is only a failure if you do not try. Dealing with what is going on in the Middle East is going to take a long time. We sent a very good message. We went into Syria with planes, helicopters and troops. That sends a pretty good message.

The problem is the French and others pay ransoms. I recently heard the French paid 10 million apiece for four hostages. That’s 40 million dollars France sent to al Qaeda. That creates quite the incentive to keep doing it. Again we need Europe to step up to the plate and stop rewarding these people. All they are doing is funding the terrorists. I am glad our President is sending a different message.

Thgr - my question was valid & legit. Not one ounce of innuendo or cynisism. Even frmr UN Amb Bolton agrees. This sort of info isn't to be revealed for 50 years after the fact.

There is your problem. If you are talking about John Bolton, he has extremist points of view. Therefore, because he voices the same concerns doesn't make the question any less cynical.

Bolton is by no stretch an extremist. Your lack of understanding ( iscel ) on the issues is your handicap.

No I remember John Bolton. He represented us in the UN for a year, year and a half. Bush put him there. He was a recess appointee who resigned before that appointment was up. He was too controversial.

What you have not understood about ISEL is that the Sunnis and other Arabs have to take the lead on the ground. All this is happening in the Middle East and they need to sort it out. Otherwise it appears as though we have taken the side of the Shiites over the Sunnis. That would be a big mistake.

Europe has to commit. Iran and other Shiite states like Iraq need to start recognizing the need to cooperate with the Sunnis. Only then will the Sunnis help eradicate these extremists. Other Sunni Arab nations like Saudi Arabia need to see we are not going to clean up after them. They are starting to realize ISEL is also a threat to them. They need to start cleaning up their mess. Patience is needed. If Obama did what you want we would be in this fight alone. Everyone else would sit back and let us carry all the burden. Not a good outcome.

As for who is most responsible for ISEL, that may be Assad in Syria. He released many of them from his prisons and avoided attacking them as they gathered strength. This is what he wanted. Now there is the, enemy of my enemy is my friend element that Assad wanted. Some have been saying all along Assad wanted to draw other counties into the conflict. Apparently the Saudi’s helped arm ISEL and it would be stupid to let them and other Sunni Arab states off the hook for this.

I have not figured out why you feed the troll. Hopefully it is not too exasperating for you.

Really ? I don't understand ? I guess neither does SecDef Hagel, who despite being a colossal JOKE , STILL manages to understand the threat ISIL poses to the West and the U.S.

France DID commit some already, or did you miss that ?

Assad already has the backing of Iran AND Russia. Now, we COULD have helped nip all this in the bud, by siding with the Free Syrian Army, a while back , but of course Obama and his 'hands off' foreign policy ( remember, the USA is the real evil according to Obama ) chose to do nothing, but make empty 'red line ' threats that he never intended on keeping.

Hoping this is true !

Remember That ISIS Terrorist Who Threatened to Raise ‘Allah’s Flag’ Over the White House? He’s Dead

In a documentary from VICE News a week back we met Abu Mosa, the press officer of the ISIS terrorists, who peered into the camera and told Americans that he would “raise the flag of Allah in the White House.”
Well, that might be tough from his vantage point, because Abu has been killed:
