And in advance of the inevitable denial, this.

Quote:

Richard Nixon was a traitor.

The new release of extended versions of Nixon's papers now confirms this long-standing belief, usually dismissed as a "conspiracy theory" by Republican conservatives. Now it has been substantiated by none other than right-wing columnist George Will.

Nixon's newly revealed records show for certain that in 1968, as a presidential candidate, he ordered Anna Chennault, his liaison to the South Vietnam government, to persuade them to refuse a cease-fire being brokered by President Lyndon Johnson.

A traitor, a liar and a crook, of course the rightwingnuts laud him as heroic, he incorporates all of their ACTUAL (as opposed to expressed) "Values".

What a surprise - he ran away faster than Rand Paul trying to dodge some DREAMers!

Beyond that, greatness and heroism? If this is a joke thread, the punch line is a long time coming.

But then, he was a mighty inspirational leader: he showed La Divine Sarah the way: say or do a bunch of dumb, criminal stuff, then resign and get outta town. Heroic.

You can't seriously be this ignorant of your own country's history, can you?

Nixon got the peace talks scuttled as a candidate in '68, which led directly to the deaths of more than 21,194 more American soldiers, including my older brother. Johnson was informed of Nixon's treason, and called it as such, and really should have had Nixon brought up on charges and shot by firing squad. This nation would have been far better off if he had. 'Course, Reagan did the same shit with Iran, so he should have been shot, too - more than he already was, I mean.

So.....
You are not from America? And your brother was?

Got myself a little confused here. Looked like you were arguing with me, but it looks like you fixed it.

I MAY not go as far as saying Nixon was a traitor, but a scumbag, crook and overall no-goodnik, I absolutely agree with you. Chicken, too-- he ran out on the impeachment, rather than sticking through with it to the bitter end, then hid out in San Clemency writing his memoirs and rationalizing his criminal behavior, for years.

I remember those years, that history, well. I watched it closely. I was draft age then.

Sorry about your brother. I had one over there as well, but he made it home OK.

You said "your country" implying you are not from America.

You also indicated your "brother" was and "American soldier", implying your brother was from America.

That was how I figured. Not saying I sussed it out correct - hence the question marks.

Yes, I am American. You claim to be as well, so I questioned your knowledge of your country's history. I didn't question my knowledge of my country's history, because I actually study that history.

Again, the only thing worth celebrating about Tricky Dick Nixon was his death, which was long overdue and should have come at the barrel of an M-16.
