I remember how she got annoyed with people calling her "Mav" for short. ;) From her pronunciation of Mavourneen, the short version would have been "Ma". I don't know why I remember that particular discussion with her.
Loved seeing her here....
Stunned when her sister's post under Maura's account came up on my Facebook feed. It just seems like news like that shouldn't be just another note, soon to be lost in the ever-updating feed. ((shrug)) But I guess that's where we are, now.
Hello, Firefly family.

Wow so sorry to hear this. I remember Mav back when I was a more frequent poster. She was quite active as well. She always struck me as a cool person with a fiery personality. She will definitely be missed.

Oh, this is just wrong...
46 is way too young.
My condolences, she was always a great member IMO.

I remember getting to know Mavourneen on here in 2006... then in 2007 I visited the USA, attended Dragon*Con & spent a few days with her, her husband & son... she was always so proud of her son who is such a lovely boy!
While I was staying with them we visited Gettysburg together... I had read everything from MArgaret Mitchell's "Gone with the Wind" to John Jakes "North & South" Trilogy & most recently at that time, Michael Shaara's "Killer Angels" which was one of the 2 books which inspired Joss Whedon to create the Firefly 'verse... it was so amazing being in that place where so many lost their lives in such a short time... you could feel that their blood still lay beneath the surface of the soil. She was so interested & reflected on how little she knew of the details whilst I, coming from Australia, was a wee bit obsessed about it all...
We also spent a day in Washington DC walking from the Capitol Building to the Lincoln Memorial & back via the White House... we saw so many monuments & memorials along the way - she took one of my all-time favourite photographs of me & she had a photograph I took of her as her facebook profile picture at the time of her death... I am honestly so blessed to have those memories.
We were chatting online last week about several things... a conversation we were going to pick up again... a conversation which will never be completed.
To ALL my online friend & family - you hold a special place in my life! I may not get in here often, but I think of this site & all those friends I've made more than you'd imagine!
I'll miss you Mav...

This hasn't been the best week ever for saying farewell to folks who have left us, far too soon.
Thoughts and sympathies go out.
Be at peace, Mav.

I never knew Mav that well, but I remember she was much loved in this little scrap a' nowhere and there will be lots and lots of missing.
Clear skies, Mav. Fly well.
