Looks funny , but not too sure how long the 'bit' will remain fresh.

Caught the kids on the Graham Norton show, and I'm not so sure the Brit audience was overly keen of the idea.

A bit too close to home, I suppose.

The two were ' in character ' and not merely themselves , pitching the show, as most actors do. I don't think the take on making fun of the Royals played too well w/ the audience, or maybe it wasn't that funny. I think it'll fare better over here in the States. Well, I'll give it a chance, at least.

I don't know. The British get Irony. I know this because I love watching Sir Ken Robinson on Ted talks and he says they do. I's just us who are accused by the British as not understanding irony.

He sites our school program no child being left behind as being very ironic.

1. Did you see them on the Graham Norton show ? Because based on how I viewed the crowd reaction, they ( the audience ) were polite, but not exactly wowed over by the siblings antics.

2. Not sure what you meant by " he sites our school program no child being left behind as being very ironic" . Who 'he' ? I saw no such reference in the clip I posted.

I stand by my original view that they were all too close to the 'gag' to find as funny as would the rest of us here in the USA.

I have to go back and look at the Ted piece again. No problem I don't mind just give me a day. I also have not seen the gram show tape but will check it out. Get back to you tomorrow.

Ok I watched the trailer and it is funny. I can see how the Brits may not appreciate it though.

Maybe we would not like it much it the Brits poked fun of..... General Patton.

I tend to watch a fair amount of British t.v., and it's a nice change of pace.

At some level, it's a bit like watching, and appreciating MST3K, where you have to be a bit quick on your feet.

The Brits don't generally gift wrap everything for you and put it under a huge arrow with the words " LAUGH HERE ". They expect you to GET some of the references, on your own.

So do keep up.

There are a lot of shows we watch or watched that had there roots in England. Remember 3's company? I'll bet the list is endless.

Not endless but The Office, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Top Gear, Sanford and Son, Shameless, All In The Family were all based on UK comedies. Of course the list of flop adaptations is at least five times as long.
