I don't know why so many of you are hating on me. What could I possible have done to deserve all of that. I was simply trying to let you know about various different things. My intentions were to be generous to my brothers and sisters in the world of scifi fandom. I'm sorry I forgot to give the name of the sources. I was just trying to do a nice thing for all of you.

I guess the old saying is true, No good deed every goes unpunished.

This will be my last thread on Fireflyfans.net. In fact I'll never post anything on this website again.

To all of you broancoats who actually did enjoy the threads, thank you for your appreciation! The rest of you are just mean-spirited jerks.

Kiddo, I want to apologise, I really do, but those that posted a response to you were pointing out valid points.

Your responses, a little tetchy in some cases, were the relevant part of the threads you started. They were your thoughts, they were the point.

Check out *gulp* the political threads - they frequently start with an article post (usually by link but not exclusively), but with the poster's thoughts. Posting a two page article with no comment doesn't start a thread. Posting your view on the subject does that.

If you're genuine that this response is driving you off the board AP, then I can apologise in the words of Blair, but try engaging in the debate a while, see how it goes.

I'm sorry that you feel you were hated on. The 16 threads that you started over the past few days have contributed thousands of words to this site. It is unclear to me how many of these words were your own.

I come to this site to virtually sit down with fireflyfans and share a dialogue over a cup of coffee. I felt like you sat down at the table and dumped out a backpack full of magazines and books.

I would like to talk to you about your thoughts. I have no problem with using a linked article to jump start the discussion. But at the end of the day I'm more interested in what you have to say than in what someone else had to say elsewhere on the web.

I'd feel sorry for him/her/whatever, except I have little sympathy when someone says to the effect, "Let's move this in a not-AP's-fault direction."

AP (if you are still reading this thread):
Sometimes you need to take a step back and look at what you've said or done (or didn't say or do) that may have caused such kneejerk reactions from people. Keep in mind, this place, this fansite, is alot like a home. In a home people come to expect certain behaviors and tend to take offense at things that do not fall into their paradigm. While you may have had the best intentions, and we can accept that, you have to take the criticism and realize that what works elsewhere does not necessarily work here. Learn and grow with the community. Don't ostricise (sp?) yourself simply because your methodology has made waves. Does a surfer quit surfing because he wiped out once, twice, a hundred times and everyone else laughed? Not if he intends to be part of that culture.

Safest way to post is to be upfront about why you are posting what you are posting. If you leave it to others to decide your intent, you will oft find your good deeds being punished.

If nothing else, this is a good lesson for others, even if you fail to ever read this.

During my time on this board I've seen posts that show pictures of a mutilated dead woman, and some really really disgusting porn -- and they get moved to Troll County. (Ok, now everyone will run off and look...)

AP's posts are harmless. Not obscene, not hateful discrimination, and not spam, such as "See your website in Google for $19.95!"

His posts shouldn't be moved to troll county, in my opinion. But if folks want to yell at him, that's perfectly fine too. IMO.

Glad I missed all that nonsense (really a dead...nevermind) and this of course pales in comparison. Also glad there is another level head out there in the 'Verse.

In that vein, I, for one, am not yelling. Trying to educate, actually. However, if AP's gonna run away and cry "not me!" then my sympathies end there, is all.

If I believed AP was malicious, I'd be harping along with the chorus. Hell, I worry about what people will think everytime I post, but only up until I click the post button. Then it is que sera. I'd rather people say "Hey! Stop that!" and I find out why rather than be ignored, I s'pose, but that's just me.

Firefly fans are still the best, despite this hiccup, I believe. Again, that's just me.

That's more than a little disturbing. Where's the 'shocked' smiley when I need it?

AP's posts were fine, I guess...should have had links instead of those long-ass messages though. I for one, assumed he was a troll the first day, simply because he posted, I think someone said 8 posts in under an hour. Interesting to other scifi fans probably but also a bit much. Ahh well...

This is funny. One thing I can say for Anon's threads, they're all aptly titled. In fact, I didn't even know there was a problem because all the topics were clearly about something that had nothing to do with Firefly. I hadn't even looked at any before this little controversy raised the issue. If anon is a troll, he(she) is a troll easily ignored, so unless Haken just doesn't have the hard drive space to waste, I don't see the issue.
