Sheesh, only one more issue left?
Seems like there's a lot to cover for 25 pages.

Yep that's what we thought too. They won't have to find Zoe too much, I'm sure she'll have busted out by the time they get there, so that'll keep THAT down, but yeah... Another core wide wave?? Pictures of child assassins might creep out a few people...

Would you say the Operative gave that guy one helluva "splitting" headache?

Yeah, but nothing to lose your head over.

Coming up on the climax of the mini-series, I'm more and more impressed by the way Zack W. has captured the voices of the crew. During the speech Mal gave their Alliance captive at the end of issue #5, I swear I could hear Nathan delivering the lines.
And, oh my, how the Alliance has F'd up, big time. Mal was resigned to the Independent's defeat, content to live quietly out of the line of fire. Their actions forced him back into the mindset of a soldier at war. They're going to regret that before long.
Not so sure the New Resistance is as dead as Mr. Blonde Purplebelly thinks it is, either. (Has anyone else noticed how almost none of the Alliance characters are given names?) We're shown the Alliance raiders gathered outside the meeting place ready to engage--but we're not shown the actual raid. If even some of Bea's higher-ups in the organization realized they were being set up... Cross reference Heinlein's "The Moon is a Hash Mistress" for the usefulness of Double Agents in keeping rebellions funded out of the enemy's exchequer.
I've said before how the Big Damn Movie got us about to the point in the series story arc that would have ended the second season, had there been one. "Leaves on the Wind" seems to me to be about where the third season would have begun--a serious game changer. Hope we get to see the rest of the season soon.
"On your left" -- Steve Rogers, Captain, USAR (Ret)

Most curious, as well, how the Operative vanished about halfway through the comic....in that one panel of all the Browncoats pouring out of Serenity, you saw him standing with his sword in his hands like he was either just about to fall on it or had already run himself through. Yet, there were no other apparent marks of such. What's next, I wonder, if anything.
It may be a lot to cover for only 25 pages, but hey....if there are some loose ends left untied, that just opens up the door for yet another comic series, dunnit?? :D However, if we lose another BDH by the end of this one, there'll be hell to pay. Especially if it's River. Now hear this, Zacky-boy.

HAHAHA
The Alliance was fundin' 'em! Love that. Goes with my theory they were probably funding the original browncoats as well.
Ah, the old divide and conquer, but I know those tricks! It's so nice when they decide to be predictable, don't you think?
The writers did good. They'd set it all up perfectly. Showcased exactly the kinds of strategies a group like the Alliance would use. How they fund "terrorist" groups and push them towards criminal activity to make the arrest. Entrapment and agent saboteurs.
My favourite part of Serenity was how they revealed their secrets and tactics, I like it that they're still doin' that.

Save for the fact the Alliance trap was really stupid and failed.
I do not fear God, I fear the ignorance of man.

But there is always gloating and monologuing before the tide turns. It's what villains do. The Alliance villain reveals his plan:
Quote:I love when a villain answers his own question. Sorry about the sarcasm. A villain in the real world would reveal nothing, but that goes against the traditions & techniques of the entertainment industry.
Malcolm Reynolds isn't your leader. I am.
You know what the biggest advantage is for enemies of the Alliance? The Alliance wears uniforms. We operate in concert. If you want to hurt us you know where to strike. You can't do much damage, haphazard and weak as you generally gorram are, but at least you know where to aim your attack. Not like that for us. You're all scattered. Scurryin' around, no rhyme or reason . . . tough to predict. That's your advantage right there. Disorganization. But you gave it up. Your one strategic advantage and you gave it up. The New Resistance. Catchy name. Helluva logo. You swarmed like flies. Where'd you think all that money was coming from?

They managed to round up and kill off a lot of people who were political dissenters off-screen by using their inclinations against them, which was the whole point.
It's as if they're more concerned about the danger posed by a LOT of political dissenters than the presence of a guy whose military history and tactical ability has been greatly exaggerated. How shocking.
Besides you keep assuming that any of this is supposed to be smart. No, it's supposed to be real. Our government does stupid shit like funding dangerous subversive groups just to get incriminating evidence on them all the time. Sometimes they even help them plan attacks.
