In all honesty, when he took off his shirt and started using a Foil in the episode of Star Trek, I suspected, even if I didn't really know.

I mean, c'mon...

I do not have a Facebook account so I can not follow him there but I know him to be a great guy. I have heard him state more than once how grateful he is to his fans. I heard him imply they made him rich, he knows it and will always be grateful for it and the love shown to him.

He always puts his best self forward, very classy.

He and his parents were sent to the internment camps, during WW2. Easy for a guy to get bitter over something like that. Glad he chose a different path.

I only hope they don't drag him into Expendables 4.

BBT. My sis tells me Wesley/Wil is on it often.
How come she never mentioned George?

I agree with this. Thanks for bringing this thread back OONJERAH. George is a great guy who does good work.

I feel that perhaps his greatest achievement, and impact upon society/culture, and also the most valuable to those of us who rock fandom, is his willingness to do the very first fan-convention, which was for Star Trek. This was the early 1970's.

I have heard his great story many times, but don't see a linky for it.

The fans were paying for it, but no other actor would come - George decided he would, asked what they wanted him to talk about. The recruiter said he could talk about anything he wanted, but if he could include some stuff about Star Trek (which was what the convention was based upon), that would be cool. He didn't have to stay in a dump, and the convention paid for his flight, room, meals - which was apparently the opposite of the norm at the time. Afterwards, he told all the other actors how great it was, how great the fans were, and encouraged them to attend future conventions.
For many who strive to be loyal and dedicated fans, he changed our world.

This is what I have to thank George for.
