favorite cartoons/shows as a child

Sunday morning was Popeye time. One of the local stations (KTLA) had the "Adventures of Popeye" with a host who wore a sailor hat (Tom Hatten). He had a big barrel full of reader mail and one of his schticks was to invite viewers to send in random squiggles. He would start with the squiggle and turn it into Popeye characters. It was like magic to watch him draw the characters so quickly. I can't remember if it was one hour or two hours of Popeye cartoons interspersed with the host setting up each cartoon. And (I may be conflating two shows here) they would slip in Tom Slick, Super Chicken, and George of the Jungle shorts.

Nature has infinite variety. Straight lines? Not so much.

My all time favorite cartoons as a child were the smurfs, the snorks, strawberry shortcake, and of course, scooby doo. And the reruns still get my undivided attention.

You're thinking of a mix of cartoon race shows. 'The Perils of Penelope Pitstop', 'The Wacky Races', and 'Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines' (this one with Yankee Doodle Pigeon).

Fraggle Rock was my absolute favorite! I wish they'd hurry up and put the seasons out on DVD. Also, the Muppet Show. I loved the cranky guys in the balcony.

Something alway bothered me about She-Ra, though. You ever notice that she doesn't solve problems by herself? She always uses either help from her woodland creature friends or call on He-Man for help. It's not very empowering.

I loved Terrahawks, the Gerry Anderson marionation. I just bought the DVD box set and it's still as good, though now I'm older I can understand more of the jokes. My favourite character was the camp zeroid Space Station 101!

How could I forget Terrahawks?! The Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, Stingray reruns were always cool as a kid.

I've remembered some more:
