Oft repeated question - but I am new to the club

With so many programs not meriting our viewing, why wouldn't they bring back the show with as many of the original cast as possible? The cast is what made the show, granted the storyline is good but the players make it so believable. I never watched the show but found it on Netflix and it so captured my interest, I watched the entire series without stopping. Not many programs can keep me that interested in today's tv genres. You would think the sponsors would look for some program that would keep viewers interested and therefore, make them aware of the products offered. Either we've lost all our senses following reality television, frankly I have enough reality every day; or we need something like this show to keep us hoping that there might be a reality out there not so mundane.
What do the original actors and actresses say that were in the original cast?

Reality TV cost next to nothing to broadcast when compared to a regular show. They make a ton of money off it. The way to change that is not to watch it.
It is like sports today. It is so expensive to watch because you have to pay not only for the cable but the ballgame as well. Do not support it by paying for it. I only watch when it is broadcast locally. If more did this the cost would come down.
I would love to see Firefly back on the air. I would sign a petition if I could trust the source with my name, email address or the information I provided. I will not blindly trust a post that asks. Many here know who has been around for a while and are legit. They would have to OK the petition holder before I would sign.

Every time any of them is asked the question, all of them say they would do more Firefly/Serenity in a heart beat, no questions asked. They also would do anything Joss asked of them, such as when he called up Nathan about Much Ado About Nothing, and Nathan said "I'm in" even before hearing what Joss was going to say.
But it has been nearly twelve years since the series premiered, almost nine since the movie, and most of them are busy with other projects, most especially Joss with the Marvel franchise. I want more Firefly as much as the next fan, but I think it likely we would get something like a spin-off with occasional appearances by the original cast rather than a continuation with the full crew we know and love. I'd like to be proven wrong though.
