Ha, Star Blazers was supreme - had to climb up on the roof and rig the most jackwire antenna you ever saw (yes i was a child tinker-genius, so sue me!) in order to pull in a channel from another state cause that was the only way I could watch it - staticcy picture, no color, fair sound quality, and I still loved every damn minnit.

Other than that - Bugs Bunny, Merry Melodies and crew... those dorks who ran them off the air citing 'violence' and suchlike must have never looked at the damned things - just how MUCH folklore, history, and appreciation for classical music did YOU learn from ole Bugs and crew ?
(fer damn sure Blue Danube sounds awful strange to me without the two 'off' notes, lol!)

Anyhow, tis my rant there, too bad cartoons these days are half hour product advertisments.. gah..

OH!, one good shout out on a semi-modern one - Animaniacs, yer supposed to watch it with yer kids as it has jokes for adults in it too, and followed in the same footsteps on culture and learning as ole Bugs did.

These were on Australian TV in the 80's, so forgive me if some of you don't know all of these -

1. Battle of the Planets
2. Voltron (especially the one where Voltron was made from mechanical lions)
3. She-Ra, and to a lesser extent He Man.
4. Jem. (Truly, truly, truly outrageous!)

Oh, and how about "Monkey"? Gotta have some monkey magic. And Press Gang!(Spike and Linda - yay!)and Degrassi High! You Can't Do That On Television! Oh, oh, and the Wuzzles! Thundercats (or Chundercats as we called them) and, and, and...

On another note - what happened to the good old days, when children's programming was for selling action figures instead of collector card games?? Tsk, Tsk.

Transformers were great. They have a new series, Transformers: Energon, that I watch w/ my son. Not as good as the original, but still fun.

Battle of the Planets - oh man I loved that show, sure I drove my mum round the bend, taping them then replaying them til I wore the gorram tapes out!!!

HeMan, She Ra, Dungeons and Dragons, Cities of Gold, Ulysses, Fantastic Four oh yeah and The Magic Roundabout and Ivor the Engine. Oh dear..... I can still remember all these. They just don't make 'em like they used to........

for me, it was just about everything on nick, you know the early days, with lots of canadian programming. You can't do that on television, robotech, smurfs, heman, greatest american hero, dr who, the same dtuff you guys mentioned.
