"...We could always just give them the crate all sealed up, and hope they don't check for the EMP." Mantichorus shrugged. "But do we know what sort of people we're delivering this to?"

Soul looked down at the small square of metal.
"I really don't like the thought of what would happen if something like this fell into the wrong hands."
"And we're the right hands?" Ebo asked.
Soul shrugged. "It's Teela's call. After all this is her ship."

Teel just looked down at the piece of metal. "Well...uh...I think we should run...yeah. I don't think this belongs with the Alliance."

"So what do we do about the Alliance officer on this boat?" Soul asked the others. "I mean, if we run, we're not going to get very far with him on board."

"Forgot about that. I suppose we can't bargan with him?" Teela asked.
Soul shakes his head.
"Well, we can deal with him later. Yeah. Ebo you ready?" Poor Teela was very unsure, and it was extremely obvious.

Soul nodded at Teela's decision. "Don't worry," he said to her. He looked over at Manti, and the other man nodded. "We'll take care of him for now."
"Hit it, Ebo," Teela ordered.
"Whatever you say, boss!" Ebo hit the controls, and the ship lurched, nearly throwing everyone to the deckplate. "Woowee!" Ebo yelled.
Gilico spoke up. "We may need to go for hard burn if we're planning on making this run longer than just a few seconds." She turned and walked out of the Bridge. "Manti!" she shouted behind her, "I hope you know your way around engines!"
Manti grinned at Soul and then made his way down the hallyway behind Gilico.
Well, I guess that just leaves me to take care of Wilkins...

Mantichorus looked at the engine. "...Half the stuff they've chucked in here isn't actually needed."
Glico looked up. "Does that have anything to do with your current situation?"
Mantichorus grimaced and shrugged. "Only if some part we don't need shorts. Then the whole thing would grind to a halt."
"Wonderful. Well, it better not short." Glico muttered. "And could you try and be more positive?"
Mantichorus sighed. "I could try, but I can't guarantee anything." He started to work on the engine. He figured that the ship's fusion engine, while temperamental, would hold for up to five minutes of hard burn. If they managed to surprise the Alliance transport with the trick, it would put them far enough out of reach.
But the firefly's hard burn maneuver was so infamous, it was prob'ly on the syllabus at the Alliance training academies.
Ugh... Low pitch buzzing in his ears... Damn, why now?
"Do you pray?" He asked Glico.
"Not for a while." She admitted. "Why?"
"You, uh, might wanna start." Mantichorus said shakily. He then collapsed onto the floor. Glico checked his pulse.
"Still alive..." She muttered under her breath. She then glanced at the engine. It looked like it could hold under a hard burn. "Hope you know your stuff, Manti." She sighed. Hang on... was his nose bleeding?
"Hell." Mantichorus groaned, and sat up. He looked at Glico. "We gotta get Wilkins off. Now. He's packin' a laser pistol. If he finds out we're fleein' an Allaince ship with an EMP on board..." He left the rest unsaid. It didn't need to be said.
"How d'you know?" Glico demanded, her voice showing her confusion.
"I'll explain everything once we get out of this." Mantichorus promised, and wiped the blood from his nose.

A/N: Wow, easily the most I've ever written on this. And yeah, I will explain once the crew of Sidere get out of 'this'.
Oh, two more things:
1. How much cursin' is allowed?
2. Is it just me, or do we need a snappier title?

Glico flipped open the shipboard comm panel, puched a button and yelled into it
"Hang on to something!" She pulled the lever on the engine, caught her balance and ran forward. Hope the engine holds, this day is getting just a bit too interesting, she thought.
She ran down the stairs, jumped a railing, and landed still running in the middle of the infirmary. She flew down, still further to the passanger's quarters, threw open Wilkin's door, and knocked him out clean. A little too easy.
She carried him to the airlock & flushed him.
"We lose em'?" Rang out through the ship

A/N The engine is still at hard burn. Someone should probably turn it off.

Turning the hard burn off...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mantichorus grimaced at the engine. OK, it hadn't lasted five minutes. More like three. And it was smelling HOT. As quickly as possible, he turned the hard burn off.
"We lose 'em?" Glico's voice echoed over the intercom.
"Yesss..." Ebo replied hesitantly. "Was that Wilkins I just saw leaving?"
'Should slow 'em down some more...' Mantichorus grinned to himself. Then he frowned. He hit the intercom. "Question: do we still have the fighter he rode in on?"
Soul walked across the cargo bay towards the airlock as Gilico turned towards him.
"Why in the good gorram did you throw him out?" Soul asked incredulously.
Gilico shrugged. "Would you have rather have had him find out about the E.M.P. device?"
Soul had to agree. "Still, we just gave that Alliance ship even more reason to chase us."
Gilico opened her mouth to respond, but Manti's voice out of the intercom interrupted her.
"Question: do we still have the fighter he rode in on?"
Soul hit the switch in response. "Still sitting there, as far as I can tell. Why?"
"Well, for starters, that Alliance ship just picked up Wilkins."
Soul looked over at Gilico with a curious look that mirrored the one on Gilico's face. "So they're pissed that we killed Richie?"
Manti's voice came back. "Nope. Wilkins is still alive."
Soul's eyes widened. "He's what?"
"He's alive, he's awake, and he's pissed."
