Possible Mishandling Grounded Firefly On FOX

According to an article published on ZAP2IT.COM, Firefly's cancellation on FOX may have been a casualty of mishandling by FOX.

Here is an excerpt from the article where Tim Minear discusses the matter:

“From what I gathered from the fan response -- and as you know, I’m pretty well connected to the Internet response -- the love for the show among what we would consider our core audience was large and was getting larger.”

“So there’s some frustration that we feel like the show really wasn’t allowed to be found. There were a lot of scheduling issues and inconsistency in airing, and some lack of promotion, I would say. It’s a business, and if something doesn’t come out of the gate strong, it’s an uphill battle from there.”

This just pisses me off... it seems obvious to me that whoever wrote this article has never seen the show, calling it a "dud" because the ratings were low. The entire thing is written as if the show sucked and everyone hated it. If the bastards at Fox had promoted the show a bit more, if they had actually showed the pilot, if they had not yanked it for baseball and adam sandler movies... maybe it would have stood a chance.

I think it sucks that they are going to cancel the show.I have watched every episode so far and have grown to really like it.I think its ashame that a good show like Firefly is cancelled and crap like "The Bachelor" comes back for another season!

Well it's definetly not me. Honestly, I can't believe what gets ratings in this country. It kinda scares me and having dealt with people for many years we do seem have a shortage of people who can even communicate worth a damn. I try not to classify people as dumb or smart, but god it gets hard at times.

We have to get this show picked up somehow, someway. I wanna keep talking about this show for some time. I postcarded, tried to make a difference.

Some would say Sci Fi is unpopular, but what i want to know is how we can have Mutant X comes back to pollute the airwaves season after season and Firefly gets cancelled! Are moronic shows popular with TV execs?

a funny story on the ratings thing
I used to manage a night warehouse in michigan.
We worked 6-7 days a week 12 hours a day at least from 7pm to 7 am...
Neilsen ratings guy aproached one of my employees and asked him if he would be so kind as to use the neilsen box so they could track his tv watching.
He told them "look guys im never home i work all the time nightshift"
They didnt even care... They just said are you internested or not sir....
Its crap liek that that gets my favorite shows cancelled...
I'm still very upset about this...
I cant remember when i enjoyed a show as much as firefly...
I have written everyone i could think of to change this...
What a jip...
I hate Fox!!! I dont think im going to watch anythingt they put out ever again... I'm not even goign to watch 24... Wonder if everyone did that if they would appreciate how it feels to lose soemthign so valuable as decent programming...

Oh and that new broke bachelor show??? Gimme a break... Lets watch everyoen make a totaly idiot fool of themselves on tv yea great

I can tell you two people who watch this crap: My housemate and his girlfriend. The TV, and its contents are the biggest source of conflict in our house. He wont give anything intelligent a chance, especially nothing remotely related to Buffy, Joss, etc. But the two of them live for shows like "The Bachelor", "the Great Race", "Why FOX thinks their entire viewing audience is made up of Dumbasses", and other such shows.

Grr... Aargh.
