How do machines "talk" too kaylee?" some sort of machine empathy?

I had assumed she just had very strong intuition about machines.

I've known people like that. They just know when things are supposed to work a certain way.

Zoid, your grandfather & my daddy would have gotten along just fine. I once watched my father do pretty much the same thing when fixing a vehicle. (and all of his girls learned basic car maintenance). So I understood exactly how Kaylee could "know" when something was wrong with Serenity....

When I read your post the only thing I could think of Was Anne McCaffery and Henery Darrow. The Pre-Rwoan, early Peter part of the series.

Anyone else have a thought along these lines?

Whether Kaylee is "deeply intuitive" when it comes to engines or not, its not to be forgotten that "engines make her hot!". After all she prefers the engine room to Besters bunk. By the way, I too am sorry Bester didn't hang around a little longer...hmmm.
