It's clear that Niki is afraid to know things which contradict her tightly held beliefs.
Rush is an evil, rich conservative, so nothing he says can POSSIBLY be right. I agree with and listen to Rush, so I'm equally guilty of being wrong. No matter what.
MJF didn't " forget " to take his meds before speaking to Congress.
He did so, on purpose, and with INTENT. 
Oh, but it's true. It's TRUE!
You see, MJF admits that he has a habit of actually OVER medicating himself, when he goes out in public, so as to minimize the effects of his disease. He does so in order to do interviews and function more normally. So he concluded that, to really show what his life is like, the severity and problems Parkinson's inflicts on its victims, he wanted to pull back the curtain and let everyone in, so to say.
I think it was a brave thing for him to do.
