Cross posted from the OB:

Hello Browncoats,
Well, the first Browncoat Ball in Chicago was a total and complete success and everybody who attended had a blast! Those Chicago Browncoats are truly shiny.

Now, looking forward, we need to start planning the Browncoat Ball 2005. It was originally planned to take place in Orlando, HOWEVER, there are several setbacks to that particular location.

1 – The Orlando Premiere shindig is going to take place there in April and it is going to take a lot of time and effort in and of itself.

2 – The Browncoat Ball time frame falls right smack in the middle of hurricane season, and if next year is anything like this year, our lives are going to revolve around the before and aftermath of the storm(s). After that is almost Thanksgiving, and folks will have other plans.

3 – Florida might not be the most central location to all Browncoats.

Don’t worry, though. There IS an alternative.

After corresponding with Rich (sendmeawave) and many Florida Browncoats, and in an effort to get all the South Eastern Browncoats involved in this project, we thought it might be a good idea to combine Dragon Con and the Browncoat Ball 2005 into ONE big event next year.

Mind you, this is just an idea. We thought that it would be shiny to have our BDHs maybe stop by the social event of the season. No guarantees though.

But, this *is* a democracy after all, so I will let you decide by voting which option you would like best:

A) I like the Dragon Con / Browncoat Ball idea - Let's shindig!!

B) Hey! I live AAAAAAALL the way on the other side of the country. How about a more central location? Dallas? Denver? Somewhere in Idaho? (Ok, ok, I’m just throwing ideas…)

C) Are you kidding??!! Florida is GREAT during hurricane season. I LOVE wind and rain! Let’s hold it in Orlando! :-)

D) I don’t care. I ain’t shindigin’ with you weirdos.

Well, you can cast your votes now. This poll will be closed by NOVEMBER 01, 2004. Majority will rule.

I notice Cincinnati ain't on the ballot. That seem right to you?

Just last Saturday, we had a big ol' Shindig here, and Susan (Flyhead) talked about having the BB here in Aught-Six. However, if you're looking for a place to 'dig in Aught-Five, consider the Queen City. One word: riverboats! (Not the gambling kind; the dinner cruise kind).

Oh hell yes!!! That would be awesome! I already had plans to go to Dragon*Con, what with how well it went this year and only 3 of our BDH's were in attendance!

To have both in the same place would rock muchly! Dragon*Con gets my vote :D

A!!! Option A!!! Most emphatically A!

I live in VA and that coupled w/ the fact that I went to Dragon Con in Atlanta kept me from the Browncoat Ball this year. If the two events were combined, it would surpass shiny.

Not only will it entice more Browncoats to attend if the Ball were held @ Dragon Con, but it would be great if the BDHs in attendance next year could stop by as guest of honor.

Of course this will mean having to come up w/ a costume similar to Mal's in Shindig, but I will gladly do it if the two events are combined.

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

Nope! Don't seem right at all. Ohio is the Heart of it all, and Cincinnati is the center of the 'Verse! LOL Seriously though, Susie (Flyhead) had a great idea with the Riverboat theme (can't get more western than that!). Plus we had 16 people show for our "little shindig", even after another 6 cancelled last minute, and by my count there are at least 8 (maybe 10) more people on our local lists who just couldn't make it this time. That is 30+ fans (not counting kids like mine who love the show too!) making up our local color!

I write my vote in for Cincinnati!

(but if not in '05, definately consider us for '06, because we SOBs (Southern Ohio Browncoats) want to do this!)

As a Chicago attendee who wished she could have attended Dragoncon, I'm saying...
DRAGONCON will be SHINDIGERIFIC!!!!!!!!!!!

"Just keep walkin, preacher man."

A - with a few reservations

1) I really would want to see this as a seperate affair from D*C ie- con attendence not required for the Ball

2) Hotel rates may be a bit expensive if we keep in the same area as the con where as just outside of Atlanta- rates can be a bit more reasonable.

PLus side-

tho who knows- if any of our BDH's are there for the con it would be great to have them as guests of honor at the Ball!
