I wasn't aware that they had already set up and were ready to breach , and then were called off.

The optics of that would be confusing for the reporters, civilians, etc...

Oonj: Not justified? If an Official says it's justified,
it must be justified. Yes?

I do hope this story doesn't get buried. If it does, there
are more like it.

Which is why they have Tasers - bonus points in that if they do bag up a would be terrorist that way, you have a live subject to interrogate, yes ?

But nope, they use the bloody things on the helpless as an act of malice, yet when the situation and force continuum actually calls for them they skip right to lethal force, and why not, it's not like they're ever held accountable for their actions, really.

Which is, of course, the entire root of the problem, right there.

Just to make the Capitol Police look even worse, the recent incidents at the Capitol and the Navy Yard have revealed that their radio system can't communicate with the Secret Service, and often their radios can't communicate with each other. There has been an on-going project pretty much since 2005 - in response to 9/11 - to upgrade communications between the Capitol Police and the Secret Service, Park Police, D.C. Metro police, and other police and security forces in the D.C. area. Originally budgeted at $35 million, costs are now $107 million, and the new equipment has yet to be deployed.
