Ah the RomComZom - I got this on DVD now it being out for a while over here. Yep definatly a great film..went to see that remake Dawn of the Dead, laughed all the way thru it, hell, its hilarious but for me for all the wrong reasons. Shaun of the Dead - great!!! There's some xtra stuff on the DVD tells you what happened afterwards - check it out when released its very amusing!! (Sorry about the spelling - my g aint working so good)

I'd like to point out to everyone reading this that it was here, on FFN.net, that the term "ZomRomCom" was first coined, and that MrsKBorg did it.
Even those annoying Trekkies never got to invent their own word. Except for, technically, "Trekkie."

Shaun of the Dead is a slice of fried gold. One of the best zombie films of the past ten years - or, the best, if you don't count 28 Days Later (which I, personally, really enjoyed) as a zombie film.

Alex Garland and Danny Boyle have always seemed to be pretty vocal about their influences - namely, Romero, Wyndham, and Matheson.

Whilst I'd love to take credit for "Romcomzom"...........I can't. On the DVD the trailer says this and its been in use over here for quite a while for this film. Damn. But I think its the first time I've seen it used here.

My North American zombie like brain totally forgot about "Day of the Triffids"... which usually inspires all sorts of bad English accents as people pronouce it as "Trih - fids" instead of "Tri-feds".
I wish I could say I can remember that movie (I was 6 when I saw it on the CBC late at night), I think I still have an old paperback in my book shelf though. Great comments Misguided By Voices - I wish I could keep up with you.

I think the American publicity (print ads and what-not) says "A Romantic Comedy. With Zombies." Personally, I prefer "ZomRomCom" better, but the Brits have always had a different way of tweaking the language. More variations on "sitcom," and of course the always amusing "advert."
Triffids:
It's TRI-feds? Really? I must see this movie (the remake), because if Donald Sutherland says "TRIFF-fids" and not "TRI-feds" then I'll be back here to poke fun.

We were laughing our heads off throughout the show! (With the exception of the obvious moments of emotion, of course.
)
Okay, there really wasn't much romance in this, but it was definitely a fun show. I was absolutely amazed by the number of little things always there. It was beautifully detailed and well crafted.
My friends and I agreed that we need to see it again to catch everything. It was just way fun!
