I think I can speak for many of us when I say I know what emotions were running through Jayne’s mind when Book refuses to give Jayne insight to his past. I really want to know, and I hope that Joss will tell us what Book wont in the BDM. I heard a good theory as to Book’s past and his knowledge in crime. Prior to Book joining the Abbey, he worked for the Alliance. He was a high-up-official. But he was part of the really bad part of the Alliance (almost like the organization that messed with River). He was so bad, that he almost becomes a legend, but isn’t widely known, because what he was doing was secret, so only those who are affiliated with the Alliance know. That is how Jubel could know about Book. But at some point, Book’s conscience goes into effect and he backs out, and joins the Abbey, hoping for forgiveness. Also, notice that Book’s real name is never mentioned in any of the episodes. If you have another theory, or want to add on to this one, then please do so. I think this would make a good table conversation at one of those Shindigs.

Goramit! Every time I post something, I always notice a spelling mistake or two, or three after I post it. I apologize for the misspelling of various things in my post.

Ok another example of seeing things after the fact. I no notice that there was a recent post on the exact same topic. man, i just seem to be one big Faux Pas waiting to happen.

I do too, all the time. Providentially, we can go back and amend our text by clicking on the "Edit" item at the bottom of our posts. I couldn't begin to tell you how many times I've gone back and corrected spelling and grammar errors -- and removed unkind or inaccurate remarks. It's a godsend, and we owe it to Haken's skill at web design...

Again, look at the bottom of your last post. You'll see an item marked "Edit". Click on it and correct your mistakes, if you so desire.

Now look at my post. Notice that you do not see an "Edit" item. This means we cannot edit each others replies, or totally delete trolls' posts. This is a design flaw, but I'm subliminally working on Haken's conscience.

Besides, I didn't find your usage unreadable. I think your message came through as you intended. Still, I can sympathize: I'm mortified when I make and transmit an error...

I just want to state, for the record, that Zoid's mistakes are few and far between. Except that he originally thought I was a person of the male gender persuasion. Which I have since (mostly) forgiven.

Whilst I'm groveling for forgiveness, it recently occurred to me that playfully referring to you as "Mmmm-a-licious", 'lish, or 'lishus might rub you the wrong way. I sure hope it hasn't. I honestly intended it strictly in the most benign and complimentary way.

So, unless you thought it was fun, too, I'll stop it and be a good boy, if you'll forgive me for past blunders. I always figured you were a fem, though, with the "Mal-licious" signature. Surely only a female would find Nathan Fillion 'licious', right? Either that, or... Well, it never pays to make assumptions, does it? Just ask Ebonezer (whom I did think was a guy, based on everyone else calling her a guy, and -- frankly -- her user name).

As to my mistakes, let's just say I'm very circumspect when it comes to pre-release editing. Most of what gets published is intentional, and correctly formatted and spelled by the time I hit 'Post My Response'. But, many times I've utilized the retroactive edit feature to repair and redact my posts, if for no other reason than to avoid convincing my fellow Browncoats beyond the shadow of a doubt that I am, in fact, an utter a**h*le. I mean, I am; but, there's no sense providing the proof every time I open my mouth...

Mal-licious does have a short bio on her Profile page now, for all to read. Everyone should at least list their gender, IMO. Its often the only way a respondent will know whether to refer to you as 'he' or 'she', or if your ideas should be referred to as 'his or 'hers'...

Que pasa, baby girl? How're the books treatin' ya'?

Yeah, I'm just getting back in the swing around here. There for awhile it seemed the place was nothing but new voices. I figured it was buzz from the movie shoot. I also figured most of the regulars made the diaspora over to the New Official Board, or NOB as I call it.

Seems like things are slowing back to a crawl around here, and the regulars are starting to creep back out of the woodwork. Still no sign of Gunhand, though. Pity. I think El Jefe poked his nose in once or twice; but I think he's still haunting the NOB. Of course, Succatash is still here, doing what he does best(?!). My new favorite 'friendly, neighborhood nemesis' is PurpleBelly; he's always got a pitcher of icewater for whatever enthuses you; but, just devil's advocate -- or devil himself -- he's never mean about it.

I've even done about 20 posts over at the NOB myself, but the site seems pretty sporadic on actual content, except for 'party game' threads. Around here, I haven't had much to add to the new crowd's posts, because our gang already said most of this some time ago; doubtless the gang before ours said the same of our discussions, n'est-ce pas?

The only reason I read this thread in the first place was because the title made me think someone was going to enlighten me about Mark Sheppard's background (you know, the guy who played Badger). What we refer to around my house as 'a blonde moment', on my part.

I've had the same reaction the few times I managed to get on here this summer -- didn't see people I didn't recognize, and saw a lot of topics I had already discussed (and there are only so many theories on Inara's syringe one can come up with). So I was pretty excited to log on here the other day and see you and Mal-licious. (Not that meeting new people is bad, it's just nice to see the old ones, too.)

And now that the semester is settling into a pattern (sleep? what's that?) I expect I'll be around more often.

As for your fanfic, I haven't read it yet. I'm saving it for when I need a truly nice break from library science (last night's class topic: the care and preservation of microfilm! Somehow, even the excalmation mark doesn't make that exciting.) But I'll get to it soon, promise.
