I've got every Firefly fan film that I know of, listed there.
There is an update on the status of Browncoats: Independence War
that I wanted to pass along:

Ah, yes, time...and money.
Just a couple of the challenges faced by independent/fan film makers.
So I'm including an update from the creator of Browncoats: Independence War:

This is a fan film, it is not for profit,
it is a short, not a web series and no one is getting paid for any labor or work.
The funds are for the expenses which cannot be bargained with (insurance, fees, permits, etc).
Everything else we've managed to get for free. :D

Browncoats: Independence War has met its goal,
tho' there are a few hours to go if anyone was holding off on pledging
until it looked like it would succeed.

Good, bad or indifferent, I'm a booster of Firefly fan films;
especially those that grow the 'verse
(outside of the, "older ship, crew as found family, hard-scrabble life,
character with an opposite sex name, folks got secrets, etc", model)
and I think this is going to be a good one.

I'm kinda glad they're covering a piece of the war. It seems like all the other projects are trying the post-war "smugglers" storylines, so it'll give them something different to work with.

Was the kickstarter the only way to get a copy of the movie or will there be other donation opportunities?

And to answer my own year old question, B:IW recently launched another fundraising campaign to cover some post production costs as well as to give fans another shot at getting a copy of the movie. I'm looking forward to this one.

This is awesome news and I'm excited to hear it! I missed out on the chance to contribute but I love fan projects, especially films, and am so looking farward to the chance to watch this one. The creators seem so dedicated to it.
