Is anyone else watching this show? It's focus on characters is reminiscent of Firefly. Great acting, and excellent direction from JJ Abrams. I am impressed!

The first ep really didn't seem to have time to impress the characters much. We have a hobbit rock-star and obvious love interests - that's as far as it got. Snippets of everyone else - one pregger lady, the dudes building the fire, the snappy lady insisting they'll be rescued like it's a right instead of a hope... and the dude who's acting like he's at Maui. That one makes me shudder.

That said, Lost definitely had it's major moments. I loved the doc (Jack?) asking the girl to sew him up, as though it were the most natural thing in the world, as he wheezed from the gash. The (former) co-pilot falling through the cockpit door rather suddenly. Of course, the whole opening, half of everyone stumbling and the other half shocked as hell. I don't know about the creature feature though.

The previews for next week look like they'll get into the character stuff nice and good.

I just want to know... what the hell was with the dog...

I've seen this show before. Only then it had "Land of the" in front of the title.

They had me right up until the monsters. Now I suspect it will be just another dumb, quickly-cancelled show.

Is this supposed to be a mini series or what. I can't imagine this story line lasting too long. By the way, didn't it seem like all the main charcters were just too pretty to be real? However, the guy getting sucked into the engine reminded me of something....hmmmm

I thought it was pretty good too in all those respects. Note even close to replacing Firefly though. Definite potential though. I'll be tuning in next week for sure. I wasn't hooked on Firefly after seeing the train job, so who knows.

Too pretty to be real? You saw the suddenly-made nurse for the pregnant woman, right?

Or, hell, Maui dude, smiling with the orange peel in his mouth. He's not only not winning beauty pageants, he gets the River award for Massive Loonyism.

More real than most shows care to be.

And I know everyone's groaning about Jurassic Park and Land of the Lost and all seen this before... Remember, this is the Alias dude, who took Le Femme Nikita, stood it on it's head and made it real and human, and then rewrote the whole show premise mid-season, just to make things interesting.

If you think it's dinos, I guarantee you - It's not dinos. The Train Job sucked too, but seeing Firefly now, we wouldn't hesitate to give Joss the benefit of doubt for a few episodes. We're dealing with a similar if different vein of TV genius here. Give it a chance.

I guess I'm an anomaly for two reasons: 1) I fell in love with Firefly on day one, The Train Job, when Mal went through the window and it turned out to be a hologram. That honestly is the exact moment I fell for Firefly. Hard. And 2), I think Alias is about the dumbest show ever. Sure, Garner is hot and all, but she can't act her way out of a paper bag. And the writing for that show was atrocious. Silly, dumb stuff. Not trying to offend the fans, here. I just never "got" that show.

So if LOST is written by the same guy, it doesn't bode well, in my opinion.
