NBC's Firefly Wins Emmy
LOS ANGELES - Sept. 19th
Creator Joss Whedon accepted the award for his sci-fi creation "Firefly" at the 56th Emmys. Flanked by the cast of the series, which will enter its third season this fall on NBC (after FOX cancelled it after its first), Whedon was humbled. "It took a stout crew of able people, ah hell, it was all me!", he said, laughing. "Firefly" had also picked up Best Writing in a Drama Series earlier for its second season cliffhanger "The Difference".
"I want to thank those at Universal for believing in us and for a group of amazingly devoted fans. Red Sox, watch out!"
The series resumes on October 5th with a two-hour premiere. The film version, "Serenity" will be launching into theatres this Spring.
