I have no problem with people believing, I even think it's possible to be a thinking person and still believe, but that's an example of NON-THINKING belief. I wish people would take responsibility for their own choices.

I guess I don't see the point of treating this as news.

So the pope resigns ... who cares much really, except ignorant followers? And anyone who's shocked at hierarchical intrigue and corruption hasn't been paying attention to the church's history during the last 2000 years.

Now the fact that children and adults were raped and there was significant church cover-up, and the fact that that cover up may have also involved governments who maintained Catholicism as an official 'state religion' (add yet another argument for separating church and state) --- THAT'S newsworthy.

How did it happen? Who's responsible? And how can this be prevented in the future?

Unless you have proof of a 5 on one preist rape of a grown human, while the doors were chained during a weekend long "lock-in", please don't sully the "truth" by making up fabricated stories.

I can't speak for today's kids, but I was 13 back in '93. If I were being raped, I would have torn off any dick I saw with my hands and/or teeth, and I was only 100lbs.

Any adult who allows that to happen to them, and doesn't have significant unexplained bruises and/or scratches that would be easily explained to the authorities wanted it.

I would think, at this point in time, that the "bad" priests were already moved to a cozy desk job, and that rape of even a helpless kid today would be met with "the wrath of god", simply as a "PR move" from the Vatican.
