'Lincoln' Screenwriter: Obama Win a Rejection of 'Psychotic' Reagan Era Ideology

Quote:

And now that we're facing challenges like climate change that absolutely demand a global collective response, an organized global collective response. We have no hope for survival as a species if we continue down the path of this kind of psychotic individualism...I think we're beginning to see, in the last election we saw, I think, a real rejection. I mean what Romney basically had to offer was the same old trickle-down nonsense and people said I don't believe it any more.

Curious...

“We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all.” - Nikita Khrushchev

“The main plank in the National Socialist program is to abolish the liberalistic concept of the individual and the Marxist concept of humanity and to substitute for them the folk community, rooted in the soil and bound together by the bond of its common blood.” - Benito Mussolini

“We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what’s best for society.” - Hillary Clinton

So, being a INDIVIDUAL is a liberal mindset, is it ? So says Mussolini. So why then, are all these LIBERALS so hell bent on destroying the concept of the individual ?

Ayn Rand sums it up quite nicely ... “The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.”

California police chief: The idea that a gun is a defensive weapon is a ‘myth’

"One issue that always boggles my mind is that the idea that a gun is a defensive weapon. That is a myth. A gun is not a defensive weapon. A gun is an offensive weapon used to intimidate and show power. Police officers don’t carry weapons to defend themselves, but to do their job in a safe and effective manner.”

PN, thanks for nothing.

Really. You entirely missed the point.

Again.

So because you saw the word "collective" used, you immediately rejected the content of what they were saying (you can't face the causes and consequences of climate change individually but only as a global society) and went straight for Communism and Fascism instead?

There is a LOT of wiggle room between complete individualism and complete, de-individualized conformity. Why go for the utter extreme when you could just look at what they meant in this individual statement?

Marco Rubio summed up Reaganism quite nicely in his SOTU "rebuttal": I got mine, and fuck you. He's glad he had the collectivist student loan program to get through school, but fuck you if you ever want or need help from the government. He's great with his mom sucking off the government tit, but fuck you if you think you deserve a penny of that Social Security money you've been paying into for the last 50 years.

Yeah, that kind of "individualism" *IS* psychotic. As is the modern conservative movement. And, like another kind of "movement", this is one that should be flushed immediately.

Mussolini and Khrushchev weren't talking about global warming, but global control.

The ones going to the utter extreme are those on the Left. The Founding Fathers were well aware that govt was a necessary evil, but warned of it getting too big. As it clearly has become.

And yes, Kwickie, I got mine, so keep your damn hands off.

But you chose to create a connection between those two and the original piece on climate change. THAT's the thing I'm questioning.

What on earth is extreme about the opinion that global climate change cannot be solely addressed at an individual level?

Hey Mr. Auraptor,

He was talking about GLOBAL Warming. That means that everybody in the world will be affected, not just the US. Do you think that if we just close our eyes that we, as a nation, will not be affected by the results?

Do you think we will solely survive climate change while the rest of the world goes down in flames? Will America separate from the rest of the world and somehow float safely on the rising oceans? And what does Mussolini have to do with it?

Everyone in the industrial nations must come together to at least nullify the effects of climate change, or we will suffer along with the rest of the WORLD.

Consider the water bottle................

Now, how does Mussolini fit into that. Go ahead, make the connection.
