Meh. A so-so episode. I expected more. However I just realized that Capt Gates on Castle was Capt Yates on ST:DS9. So much for being observant.

It was nice to see Gina, but there was little to no interaction between her and Nathan. No Firefly shout-outs. I was hoping for at least one.

They could at least have had Castle and Beckett over hear her yelling to her husband, "Take me sir! Take me hard!"

No obvious shout-outs. It was more her character had some similarities to Zoe, being a bit of a badass tough woman. They did a similar thing with Adam Baldwin's character in the Castle episode he guested in, making his character Jayne-like, but there they did a much better job of incorporating Firefly references, both dialog and visual references. I read something on ABC's Castle website that made me infer that ABC has issues with too many Firefly references on Castle because it was a show that aired on a rival network. (Not realizing that Firefly transcends network rivalry.) Also, Jose Molina has left the writing staff for Castle, and I doubt the other writers are as into Firefly as he was. In fact, given the many lost opportunities in Castle episode 5x06 The Final Frontier, which was more of an homage to Trek than to Firefly, I'd say the current staff of Castle writers doesn't really "get" Firefly at all.

Did he?
That might partly explain why I can't get into this season at all.

Lots of shows with that romantic tension kinda lose it once they fall in love. I remember Moonlighting being very popular. Then the main characters finally fell for each other and the show didn't last much longer.
Then again, maybe it wasn't supposed to. We can all secretly hope the show is almost over so Nathan will have time to get with Joss for the reboot...

I got pretty much the same feeling watching Hawaii 5-0. Summer was actually pretty solid in her role, but the fight scene was so ho-hum it bothered me.
They shot it poorly and it lasted about 1 minute, they had her use the most basic of moves (the whole build up was that her "father" was a master in the fighting technique known as Lua).
It was disappointing to say the least.
Funny, but do you get the feeling that we were being played by the networks, both Gina and Summer appearing on shows Monday at 10 p.m.
HHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
SGG

Two of Castle's early guesses at the unknown present: It's a pony, a rocket...
Familiar, doncha think?
Sorry Molina is gone. We need some snap and crackle brought back - - the physical relationship, implied or demonstrated, is one thing, but the intellectual communication seems flat.
I watched Castle and 5-0 on the net yesterday (no TV handy)wondering when networks will finally let it soak in that so many of us time-shift our shows for whatever reason that putting shows against each other will soon be out of date.
That's crappy English but I'm ill and you know what I mean with it.
5-0 barely used Summer, even in the fight, but I kept thinking that bouncing around in that empty pool is far more damaging than doing it in a ring or even a cage.
Feel as if I've gone a few rounds today...Later, y'all
bun

I dunno, I was glad there was at least some fun in this episode (I can't feel my butt
) Some of them get so serious I feel like snoozing...
We always watch Castle on Wednesday ourselves, and just this year have pretty much stopped watching EVERYTHING on broadcast...It's all on the 'net. (That's coming from a dyed-in-the-wool luddite here) Instead of getting just snippets while dinner madness is going on, I actually get to sit and watch THE WHOLE SHOW-priceless!
Sorry yer feeling low, Bun... Get ta feeling better soon shweetie...
