From the study it sounds like there is a real life River out there somewhere.. Shame they didn't say how the attacks ended up.
I also don't think their results qualify as "fear reactions" so much as "I can't breathe and I kinda need to do that and I really need to get the flippin mask off to continue doing that..." Probably had accelerated heart rate to accomodate action, but not quite panic...

The thing about River is that they would have had to do a lot more to her than just strip her amigdala, TV brain discussions are generally lacking in fullness or accuracy.

I don't know, it could really have been a panic response. I have understated reactions to a lot of stuff, yet I have panic attacks and am diagnosed with anxiety disorders.
