Firefly Anniversary Idea

I have a proposal to mark the second anniversary of our beloved show, by date this Monday, but by day of the week, Friday the 17th.

On the third Friday in September, at 8:00 Eastern time, Firefly fans shall load up their DVD players en masse and watch the episode "Serenity Parts 1 & 2." This message to FOX will declare load and clear that there would have been support for this show, had only the original, full pilot been aired.

I also propose that throughout the fall, we watch each episode at 8 PM on its original air date. As the day of the week will change each year, we'll be showing support against the Friday Night Death Slot.

The unaired episodes will be added in as they are shown on the disks, and the pilot will not be viewed again on 12/20, replaced with The Message (again, showing our defiance from Fox, we will withhold Objects in Space for the final episode - meaning on 12/13, the show viewed will be Trash).

Let's show Fox the way this show should have been shown.

ummmm...cool idea, but just HOW will F*x know that we're doing this? They'll just think any glitch in the ratings is due to some other stupid show on some other stupid channel, not to our DVDs running our beloved Firefly....

It's a great plan and our household will be watching Firefly every Friday at 8pm until we run out of episodes. The only change is that we'll probably do this at 8pm local rather than east coast time. And we're NOT going to preempt and cancel episodes for the World Series .

I just re-watched Serenity tonight as well.... Even though I know all the lines almost word-for-word, and even though I know EXACTLY what's going to happen next, I still love watching this series! My Friday nights are booked for the next few months.

I love the idea of paying homage to Firefly on Friday nites. Of course, it was John Doe that I was originally fired up to see, but 8pm is now MUST SEE DVD for me!

You know, after watching the pilot tonight, I just don't watch that episode enough. I'll just echo AURaptor, MAN, I love this show!!

Of course, it didn't hurt that we combined our Firefly anniversary kick-off with a Firefly drinking game. I'm going to have to come up with new rules.

Here's how the night went...
