I've taken this info from the Uk's Teletext. For my fellow British browncoats, it's Channel 4, page 311.

"Gary Oldman has reportedly dropped out of the next Star Wars movie on a matter of principle.

Oldman, who was due to be the voice of evil Jedi Knight-slayer General Grievous in 'Revenge of the Sith', pulled out because the production was using non-union actors, reports IMDb.com.

A spokesman for the actor said Oldman had withdrawn out of respect for other members of the Screen Actor's Guild, of which he is a member."

N.B- Return of the Jedi was initially going to be called Revenge of the Jedi, until Lucas decided that revenge 'was not the Jedi way'.
Way to be original, George.

Revenge of the Sith - Revenge of the Jedi.
As I said, unoriginal.

Hell, not only is it unoriginal it was not even unexpected. Most of the fans thought Revenge of the Sith would be the title for Episode 3. George Lucas should have gone with a title no one could have even guessed.

Instead he went with the most predictable. At least the Phantom Menace was imaginative and unexpected.

A total letdown!

Here's what I don't get about the whole story;
This character first appeared in the Clone Wars cartoon, with the voice done by Bender himself, John DiMaggio. Why did anyone think that it was necessary to get Oldman in the first place when you already had an established voice?

Revenge of the Sith? Wow, I hadn't heard that yet.

Personally, I was hoping for "Star Wars, Episode III: Obi Wan's Groovin' Dance Party." Kids love groovin' dance parties.

I suppose that you did not know the origins og rotj until recently. but I'd rather have "revenge of the sith" than another "attack of the clones."

A while back, people were speculating Fall of the Jedi (to reflect/foreshadow "Return").

George Lucas, The Wachowski Brothers, Quentin Tarantio, Robert Rodriguez and others have quit the director's guild because of their many restrictions and it's not uncommon for them to use non-guild actors. Still, Revenge Of The Sith has many guild actors that don't seem as concerned with the use of non-guild actors: Ewan McGregor, Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christenson, Jimmy Smits, James Earl Jones, etc. Now, I respect Oldman for his decision, but it was hardly an ethical quandary.
