I remember reading about fans paying full price to see just trailers or short films before the feature (I can't remember if it was for the Animatrix or for Star Wars trailers, but I think the film was "Dreancatcher), and then walking out of the cinema. This phenomena actually made the news.

If you choose to view the trailer on the net, It would probably be wisest to go through a site like apple.com - they probably keep numbers on each link clicked, they might be able to see the Serenity fans gathering enforce... :D

'Yes... this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... "this land".' 'I think we should call it your grave.' 'Ah! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!'

I'm ashamed to admit that I was one of those people. I went to see "Dreamcatcher" ONLY because I wanted to see "The Final Flight of the Osiris" (from "The Animatrix") on the big screen.

Turned out that "Dreamcatcher" was a pretty awesome movie -- until my friend patiently explained to me that it wasn't supposed to be a comedy!

That's great, but I'd really like to see it going with some pre-Christmas release films...I'm concerned that January promos for an April release is cutting it a little short, considering we're finding out that there are a LOT of closet Browncoats out there who have no idea there is a movie coming out or that the DVD set exists.

Maybe (oh hope, oh hope, oh hope) everything will go really well in post-production and they'll be able to get that date moved up some???!!

I agree SHK. I would like to see a trailer in the theatre in late Nov, early Dec. The holiday season sees a lot of new movies, and ticket sales always go up to the holidays (things being closed & people on vacation). A trailer attached to a big movie or two during the holiday would get it a lot of exposure.

Personally I would like a 5-6 month run for the trailer to get as much interest generated as possible.

I have hated most trailers for years. They cherry-pick the best lines, ruining the surprise of hearing them in the movie and they give away the plot. I just read Joss's blog where he praises the studio honchos for not interfering. I'm hoping that means Joss gets to approve and/or make the preview. I know he could make it appealing and intriguing without giving anything away.

The pairing with Electra worries me a bit. This is not ONLY an action adventure. I fully expect to have my heart ripped out and to see some amazing acting. The trailer should show with a film where a sophisticated audience can get a taste for it also. (Yes, sophisticated people might attend Electra too, but the majority will be there for hot babes and action, action, action.)

Personally, I want to see it on the big screen - there will be so much more to see...

Just a reminder to those of us in Canada: Trailers do not behave the same way here (it seems to be in the hands of the individual theatres up here, lest they hype a movie they don't actually plan on showing). I learned this lesson after not seeing the AotC trailer when I went to whatever movie it was that carried that.

It might very well not play with Elektra and end up appended to just about any movie. Wait for the day to arrive; I go to enough movies that I'll keep a heads-up of where it is and isn't playing around here.

I'm not saying there won't be the people there for hot babes and action, but I think the people most likely to be seeing Elektra are comic book geeks. Elektra got spun off from the Daredevil comics, so it really is only natural that she gets a movie as well. And the geeks of a specific character/universe will watch any movie done with that character/universe so they can have the joy and pleasure of either trashing it or talking it up as the best movie ever. Probably trashing it -- the geeks I know weren't too happy with Daredevil.
Wait, no! I swear, I don't know any of these comic geeks! No! I don't hang out with those sort of people!
