So ya admit there's something I'm not extremely stupid about, huh?
Interesting.

If you mean that your constantly proving your stupidity means there's ONE thing you're good at.... then, yeah, sure. Go right ahead and latch onto that one...

Only if 'end of the United States as we know it' can be banned right along with 'end of the World as we know it.'
A-MEN! I'm so sick to death of that one, and I'll bet it's been said by people from 1776 until the present. Pffft.
Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

Millions of people are going to die today.
Just like every other day.

An accurate and realistic - albeit morbid - way to look at it. (I have no room to complain)

You're a bit off in your 'fact' making up there.
The global death rate sits between 150,000 and 160,000 per day. Even when escalated by conventional war that rate is not likely to exceed +50%. Millions in one day would likely require something along the lines of a nuclear attack.

Oh. Yes, that's correct, did the math. It's 158-160,000 people a day. Thought it was more than that.

As someone who was in Mayaland a couple of days ago I can honestly say that the only people worried about this were uneducated Americans who know nothing about the Mayan calendar. All the Mayans I saw were just hangin out.

I'm sick of people who don't want America to change -- or, worse, want it to go back to what it used to be (more sexist and racist -- although perhaps less ignorant -- than it is these days).
The world has changed in fundamental ways, and America must change with it to succeed. There's an adage in writing that "stagnation = death," and that's really true everywhere. Worse, the world of yesterday belongs to yesterday, and to try to cling to it is idiocy at it's finest.
I know some folks don't like Obama -- indeed, don't think he's a "real American" -- because he doesns't seem to believe in "Amercan exceptionalism." Guess what? He's RIGHT. In my life time, I feel like I've seen the death of American exceptionalism, and I'm sure my parents and grandparents have even more to say on the topic.
The first step in dealing with a problem is recognizing it which makes him lightyears more American than the morons who for the past decade or so have been trying to return the United States to the 1950s.
Oh, also: Mayans, you can suck it.

Doesn't the Bible say that nobody knows the hour of His return and that he'll come like a thief in the night?
I'm fine on one hand, but on the other I'd probably shoot a thief in the night.
