I'm not a fan of movies freed from the chains of narrative continuity. I'll see it at home and break my viewing sessions, one for each segment. I lose gestalt that way, but I gain coherence. It's personal -- I might be allergic to omnibus movies.

I just remembered Animatrix, also by The Wachowskis. Best in small doses of one story per day: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Animatrix

Um. It's not at all edited like an omnibus movie. There are no "sections." Scenes flow from one historical period to another and back again throughout the movie. Basically, all the story arcs are experienced simultaneously.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Simultaneously? I looked at the book to see that all but one story, Sloosha's Crossin', are split in two. If the movie is built the same, I could jump forward on DVD to the second half of each story. I can handle that it's not a traditional anthology.

Cloud Atlas chapter headings:
5 - The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing
4 - Letters from Zedelghem
3 - Half-Lives: The First Luisa Rey Mystery
2 - The Ghastly Ordeal of Timothy Cavendish
1 - An Orison of Sonmi
0 - Sloosha's Crossin' An' Ev'rythin' After

In order to experience the various stories separately you would have to go through the DVD and find out the chapters for each one, skipping over a lot of other scenes just to see each vignette sequentially. But I think that would be a mistake. It is edited in such a way that all of the stories flow well together because they are connected by a common theme.

Its not.

Note to anyone - Please pity the poor, poor wittle Rappyboy. He's feeling put upon lately, what with all those facts disagreeing with what he believes.
