We started the festivities a little after 11:30, and started eating after noon. Thanks to everyone who brought food, and a big Thank you to Irene Pintin Brown for cooking the good dogs and burgers. A special nod also to Ellen Long for the Kaylee cake.
We followed the meal with the costume contest. The winners were: Lillian Long for best (and only!) kid Costume; Heather Ackroyd for most accurate costume, Melbn the bear (see attendees' various photo albums lol) for funniest costume, and Robert Coleman for best overall costume. Also participating were Irene Pintin Brown and Charles David Dent.
Immediately aftwards, we had the sing-along, courtesy of Simon J. Dodd on guitar, Heather Ackroyd leading the vocals, and me hamming it up on the sidelines.
Then, a brief break, watching videos (which was ongoing throughout the day), followed by The Serenity Role Playing Game being played in the south room of the shelter (thank you Charles David Dent!), while 13-year old Liz (sorry, forgot your full name!) called the numbers for the "Shiny" Game (aka Bingo) in the north room. The large center room was open for food nibbling, swag buying/bidding, conversation and Video watching.
We announced the Bid winners at 5:30, because some folks were leaving. We estimated the overall contributions for Middleway House to $627.75, but we were WRONG! I took the money to MwH today, and the actual amount was... (wait for it).... $651.00!!!!!!!! Yay!
Most everybody left by 6:15 or so, but a die-hard group of us stuck around 'til after 7, watching "Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog", and talking.
Overall a Shiny time was had by all, and we can't wait to do it again next year! :D
