I mean, I knew Jewel was staring in this show, but I never saw it. Had no clue it was even on my t.v. schedule. I figured it was just some Canadian show, and not available here in the states.
I mean, it's got that one chick from DeGrassi, and Alan Thicke, so how was I suppose to know it was on 'real' t.v. ?
Anyone else watchin' ? How's Jewel doing in this ? Or are we caring ?

I've seen every episode so far (other than tonight's), but Jewel is the only reason I'm watching. It ain't my kinda show, but Jewel's pretty good, although she's playing a character about as far from Kaylee as you can get.

Man, you got that part right. I've only seen like 1/2 a show, and she's ...well, she ain't Kaylee. I like seeing her, of course. And no sooner does she say the word 'whore', that I think of Inara.

I believe she said in an interview that the character she plays in the LA Complex is closer to who she really is than any other character she has played.
And if you want to see here really playing a different role, check out the episode of Dead Like Me where she screws a zombie (that show was a comedy, and a rather good one.)

Not sure why you're saying 'poor Jewel' ...
I think I did see the ep of Dead Like Me , but I thought she was some goth chick. Maybe I didn't see the whole thing ? Loved that show, but it's been so long since I saw it.
Also, she was the cheatin' wife of the bartender on Wonderfalls.
Saw her at a DragonCon , back some time ago. She seemed real laid back and friendly then. Not 'Kaylee' cheerful, but still fun to be around. I wish her hundreds of fat... well, acting jobs.

Quote:If you play the video, Jewel is so, "I need this job." She is so vulnerable: "Don't abandon me, pretty please with sugar on top. I'll be good next time." Rachel's personality flips back and forth between brutal and squishy. In video, she is squishy, literally and figuratively.

Well, I'm not up on the series or Jewel's character too much. That clip is quite a different face for her than the one I saw from this week's show, so I guess I can see your point. At first, I wasn't sure to what you were referring... that Jewel was reduced to wearing a bikini in some 2-bit Canadian t.v. show, or that her career had taken a turn for the worse, BECAUSE she was in some 2 bit Canadian show...
( And I hope folks KNOW I'm kidding, w/ the wise cracks about Canadian t.v.
I'm just glad Jewel is on - ANYWHERE, and she's doin' good works. ) And Whozie, it's clear to me that you're ignorant of Alan Thicke , and his great works. I mean seriously, who could forget 'Thicke of the Night' ???
Geeze!
