Haken, you are the best. Thanks, may you hit the BIG one in Powerball and buy the rights to Firefly, with enough change left over to make Serenity 2.

This was beyond awesome, even if Gina, Morena and Ron were missing in action.

So if the show had last 7 seasons he wouldn't have killed anyone off? That's a shock, the last episode of "Buffy" was a bloody mess.

He started killing off Buffy characters in the second season. I am sure all nine main Firefly characters would not have been around for seven years if it had lasted that long. Whether they would have been killed or removed from the show in other ways is not important. We do know that the original draft of Serenity (the BDM) had both Wash and Book surviving at the end. The way he changed it made it a more gripping and dramatic film, and much the same (even if different characters) would have happened if the series went several seasons. It is Joss after all. He has a way of kicking us in the nuts when we least expect it.

I think the person's question wasn't how the series would have ended but who the first season would have ended.

on the globe that gave me birth.
Let me rest my eyes on the fleecy skies
and the cool, green hills of Earth.

That's correct. The question was if Joss had known Firefly would only get one season how would the finale have differed from the BDM.

We have a new mantra now. My signature line is Mandarin for "We're still flying."

Now I need to get the translation for "The story is alive!"

You knew this... how ? With all the killin' that took place on the show, and in previous series, I find it hard to buy that NO ONE would have died. I love hearing him say that, but to be honest, I think he's pandering a wee bit to the audience. Or perhaps he's had a change of heart, over the years, and come to love the characters enough to have kept them.

Got all revved up waiting for something awesome, and all we get is more damn comic books??? I can't tell you the plot of ANY of the ones I already own.

On review, getting the feeling we've all been had.

Also, really tired of these vague answers being passed off as funny, but they are just avoiding saying ANYTHING of value. They got the man to cry, great. NOW DO SOMETHING FER SHIT'S SAKE!@!!

The fact there's such a following for a 1 season series that aired 10 year ago... I think that says it all right there. Do something ? We got the BDM. May not be much, or enough, but (sadly) it's all we're gettin'.

Yeah, I guess we've officially gone from "Done the Impossible" to "Expect as Little as Possible."

I would actually prefer a radio show over comic books. I still don't understand why we can't have BOTH audio and visual and STOP cutting our expectations, but I guess that's just me. All or Nothin'. Anything else is a cut-rate existence.

'Cause it's very rare to kill off a main character in a first season unless there is a set in place story arc and ya foreshadow it to death. You kill off characters in season 5 when you don't care anymore or to get people talking or the character has grown static. You don't kill 'em off in season one 'cause people won't come back for season 2... Death makes certain people squirmy, as we've shown here numerous times. They start seeing actors as friends, because they relate to them. I've never had a problem killing offa character, because IT'S JUST A DAMN CHARACTER....made up. I accept it's just a good story, and move on. Some people don't, but then some people juggle geese

EDIT: yes, I think the question referred to just to the first season, as well.
