Little children have trouble with movie magic. My son, when he was 3, watched Pinicchio with me and he became scared of the whale. I had to explain to him that the movie was not real, but it didn't really help until he was 5 or 6 years old. After which, it became his favorite.

This seems less an indictment of movie magic than it is of allowing children to watch any entertainment before they can comprehend what they are looking at.
