For a few seconds there, I thought I was seeing a Firefly class ship.

When I first heard about this, I didn't know it was connected to the ALIEN movies. Now, I simply cannot wait. Scott's first sci-fi film in many years. 2012 is heating up to be one of my all time "must see" movie years of....ever!
-The Hobbit
-Prometheus
-3 stooges
-The Dark Knight Rises
-The Avengers
-Frankenweenie(based on Tim Burton's short)
-The Lords of Salem
-Django Unchained(Tarantino)

Easily my two most anticpated films of next year. Just saw the new trailers for both movies and I'm eager already. The only reason I'm currently slightly more excited about TDKR is because it arrives first.

Just the mention of Tim Burton or Joss means I'm in. Plus I really hope Samual L Jackson or Robert Downey Jr use a line like 'Joss is Boss' in the interviews. That would be cool to hear it from A-list actors.

I heard/read most of the rumours about Camerons prequel, Sigourney Weaver being attched, the 'reboot' and 'remake' stories, it not actually being connected to an 'Alien' film at all, etc etc. Having seen the trailer and getting glimpses of the space jockey, the derelict and the way the title appears I'm happy with it's 'Alien' connections. Opening night for me.

Really?
The trailer looked appallingly bad and unfunny. I'll admit I never really watched the original stuff (more of a Marx Brothers fan) and I can understand that if you're a fan then you will probably see it at some point but a 'must-see' movie?

3 stooges(I'm a big fan) was always really stupid humor. Laughing at their antics, and violence is the appeal. This new movie from the Farley brothers(Dumb and Dumber, There's Something About Mary) looks not to alter them in any way, and I respect that. And the cast is pretty good(especially Curly).

Hadn't seen this trailer til now. You're right, very Firefly-like spacecraft. This movie looks awesome. It wouldn't surprise me if Ridley Scott pays a little homage to Joss by mentioning the Firefly class of ship in the movie.
Thanks Haken for posting.

2012 so far has some good stuff. Now the fun begins.......well it just begun with Cabin in the Woods, with special mention for John Carter (this is not as bad as Disney would have you believe). When it comes time for my "Best Of" post, the list will be really long. Folks start gathering your notes (Aug, near the end of the summer season) we're gonna have some fun.

Well, now, that does look promising. Maybe now we'll find out, at last, what the Space Jockey is/was.
The way they wrote it in the Dark Horse comic and novels (Aliens vs. Predator, still a cool concept if ever there was one although they'd have done better sticking to the original story IMO) was that these guys were collecting specimens, and that's why there were all those eggs Kane found on the ship.
We shall see. Certainly I will; I think this is a movie worth seeing - it definitely has potential.

Both were made by 20th, maybe the same guys built both sets. I wouldn't be shocked they saved some of the Serenity set to be reused. God knows they reused the hell out of the "Forbiden Planet" sets.
