You're right. How insanely idiotic that Obama would try to piggy back his political agenda onto something Jesus allegedly said. Pretty poor taste, if you ask me.

All US presidents have to pretend to believe in God, otherwise they would never get elected in America where atheists are vilified and fundies are appeased. Why someone's religious beliefs, OR their beliefs on abortion should even be newsworthy is beyond me.

Why ONLY Obama? Why aren't you gonna say something about it when a right-winger evokes bogus teachings by Jesus, as a basis for so-called Christians to buy into his right-wing political agenda? More to the point, why HAVEN'T you ever said something about it when that was the case? Why is it that you apply such a double standard to Obama, that if he does something which all politicians so, you'll call him on it, but you'll never call out any right-winger for such actions?

Will you please go tell all those anti-choice activists how poor their taste is, then?
While you're at it, go remind Dubya how insanely idiotic his "crusade" was (which you still support)...

Rappy, all kinds of politicians... right wing especially... invoke the Bible to make all kinds of political and economic points (gay marriage, abortion, birth control, radical Islam, cultural values etc.) Now, if your reason for being bothered by this is because references to religion are all "bogus", are you not equally bothered when ANY politician does it? Or are you especially bothered because you think it's an effective way of framing an issue which threatens to raise your taxes?

Just because someone tries something once doesn't mean they're now part of that belief system. In high school my best friend tried casting a spell with her friend, learnt how to do it etc. (it didn't work for her). But she doesn't roll that way any more than I do, it was something she tried one time and never felt interest in trying again.
I think it would take more to become a Muslim than just going to the mosque once, I don't know the details but Islam doesn't strike me as a very simple religeon.

Hi Mala!!! Long time no see (or I may have missed you if you've been around; I don't read as much of what's here as I used to).
I'm glad it tickled your fancy; it did mine, the first time I saw it as a bumper sticker. And it made more sense than a lot of what I read in this thread (among others!). Always happy to offer a giggle.
