What I'm currently watching and REALLY enjoying:

*The Bionic Woman season 2-What can I say this show is amazing. It beats Six Million Dollar Man by a mile(better character depth, better stories, better consistency). Although I hear season 3 is pretty bad, I'm still looking forward to watching. Kenneth Johnson is the man.

*Kung Fu season 2- currently rewatching the series, and of course I'm having a blast.

*Six Million Dollar Man season 2-Some really great episodes marred by some really bad ones. It's funny, the more sc-fi inspired the episode, the more I enjoy it. Feel like a kid again watching it. Just like I did in the 70's.

What I'm looking forward to:

*Logan's Run complete series. Coming in April, this is one of my dreams come true. Can't wait to see this again(especially the unaired episodes).

*Buck Rogers re-release. Universal is re-releasing the series on single sided discs(not the double sided BS). I will buy it.

Depends on what NetFlix comes up with next! One series I'd never heard anything about and really enjoyed was Saving Grace. (We've never had cable or satellite.) I've been looking for something as powerful to replace it, since I've watched through to the last episode...

Internet streaming is the future of video, so I've been buying fewer DVDs and watching more stuff on Netflix, HuluPlus and Amazon Video on Demand.

Lately I've been watching Breaking Bad, the 90s drama My So Called Life, some classic Doctor Who, and rewatching Arrested Development in anticipation of Netflix producing new episodes.

Hulu has the exclusive on a hilarious new British comedy series called Spy. There's only six 22-23 minute episodes so far with a new series coming sometime in the fall.

Apes marathon. You said it my friend. I have been holding off for a while so it's a little more distant in my mind. Seems like next month some time I may have to break out the microwave popcorn, soda, and once again escape....to the Planet of the Apes.

No arguments here. I agree. Unfortunate that I am a true collector of physical media. Where as you have been buying less, I have increased my tv on dvd purchases for that reason alone.

I also have Netflix, and it's great to watch any classic Dr. Who(I have always wanted them but they are pricey, and many). I have also discovered some great series via streaming like Red Dwarf. Thing I don't liek about streaming is the rights issue. Where as my dvd's should last my entire life, what's on Netflix now may not be available in a year because Netflix doesn't renew the contract with a certain studio.
I'm all about future proofing myself so I can watch all of my favorite tv shows till I die, but then again maybe they will stop making dvd players.

I have YOU to thank for getting me to buy it. It's really THE ONLY TV continuation from movies that surpasses most of the source material.
In fairness, I can't recall the Logan's Run series that well, but it'll be interesting to see if it comes close to the movie in terms of creativity after all these years. My main problem back then was that Logan & Jessica didn't LOOK like they did in the movie.
I was a kid.

I *HATE* streaming media. It looks like felgercarb to me. A jagged series of stills paraded rapidly past my visual cortex in a pretense of motion. If I get REALLY drunk it looks fine. If I don't stare at the screen 'cause I'm doing other things, it's okay.

Gimme good old-fashioned DVD goodness!

Recent DVD purchases:

Bored to Death, Season 2. One of my favorite shows, just because it is so odd and unexpected.

The Borgias, Season 1. I enjoyed lots of The Tudors, so this seems a natural.

The Pillars of the Earth. I heard good things, so we'll see.

In Treatment, Season 1. Season 1 of this show is HUGE - 43 episodes, each around 45 minutes long. They are emotionally draining, and I can see why the actors signed on - each episode is basically Gabriel Byrne as the therapist, and one or two other actors as his patients. And they go at it. It must be an actor's wish come true, because it gives them plenty of opportunities to stretch out and push themselves.

# 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Wife wanted to try this one, it was on sale for $10, so what the hey...

Eastbound and Down, Season 2. Just freaking hilarious. So wrong.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand. I'll miss Andy Whitfield. :(

Boardwalk Empire, Season 1. I've only seen the first episode, but it was enough to get me hooked, and I pre-ordered this one. Should be here tomorrow.

Breaking Bad, Season 3. It is such a ride, this show. Watching Walter become someone you won't even recognize from the first episode to the last, it is just incredible.

Hung, Season 2. It's silly, it's fluff, but it's still pretty funny.

Californication, Season 1. Never seen it, but I figured for $10 I'd check it out. I still have some fond memories of Duchovny from the X-Files days.

A great number of the shows I buy on DVD are HBO and Showtime series. It's been pointed out that it would be cheaper for me to just get HBO and Showtime, but I like to get really into the universes of the shows I'm watching, and waiting a week between eps takes me out of that world too quickly. And this way, I can re-watch them any time I want.

And of course I'll be buying American Horror Story when it comes out on DVD. I've already watched it, and it scared the living fuck out of me. I'm not sure I could do a marathon of that show, because it usually took me about a week to recover from the previous week's horrors!

It sure is great.
When I heard it was coming to dvd(way back in 2001), I about flipped. The Picture quality of the dvd surpassed my expectactions.

Everything from the actors, to set design and stories is just fantastic. I rank the POTA universe-original film, tv series, then the movie sequels. That is how much I like it.
