Watch how fast this gets him connected to the OWS movement:

Quote:

In an open letter today, President Obama threw his support behind the second annual “Small Business Saturday,” a marketing initiative started by American Express to encourage Americans to patronize local small businesses on the same day.
At least there's
Quote:

The Small Business Saturday initiative is also supported by a bipartisan group of 34 U.S. Senators and dozens of major American corporations, including FedEx, Google, Facebook and AT&T.
So he's not alone, and it IS the second one. But given we're having an action on the same day, I wonder how long it will take his detractors to claim this makes him part of Occupy? Pfffft.

He really should keep his mouth shut about OWS...it doesn't help our cause one whit to have President Wishy-Washy agreeing with it!

Hello,

In fact, all of our politicians can shut up about it, as far as I'm concerned. I do not believe that a deep concern for small businesses actually preys upon their conscience. Rather, I believe we are in Joe the Plumber season, and will be for the next year.

I encourage all of our politicians to return their focus to governance, and let the rest of us muddle through our consumerism without their good advice.

Alright, walk me through this, if ya can.

How is promoting small business a bad thing ? And where is this tied to OWS ?

I'm not seeing the down side here...

Little help?

She's not saying it's a bad thing. She's saying that Obama riding on the coattails of OWS is a bad thing.

OWS supports small business, see? Corporations bad? Local business good?

Anybody who watches TV should know that "Shop Small", or "Small Business Saturday" is sponsored by American Express. Hardly an anti-capitalist outfit.

Hello,

Yes, when the butcher starts talking about the rights of cows, you know there's a sale on Pork.

Well, it's a joke, considering that most of Wall Street's political $ goes to Obama and the Dems, not the GOP, so there is that. And also, the OWS movement is, despite favorable coverage from the media, seen by most of America as counterproductive and useless. Much like Obama.

Yeah, I got that. Not sure I agree with it entirely.

I'm sorry but how can Google, Facebook and AT&T claim to be pro-small business considering how hard they've all tried to gain a monopoly on their respective fields? That seems hypocritical... oh wait, nevermind. I thought I was dealing with reason. Rookie error, there.

Oh, I know the differences, and who's sponsoring "buy small". It's also on Saturday; our action is on Black Friday. They're just too close in concept, so I can imagine the right trying to make the connection in order to claim Obama is part of OWS, or behind it, or somesuch. That's all.
