Good for you for winning that insurance battle. Must have been hard since "computers are never wrong", right? 
I've held that feeling about schools myself for a very long time. I always tested in the 99% range on most categories of the yearly Iowa exams growing up and usually got straight A's or at heast the Honor Roll, but in the end the only two classes I felt from grade K-12 that benefited me at all in the real world were Keyboarding and Consumer Ed (Which, probably more than coincidentally, were both only 1/2 year courses in my high school).
All that time wasted..... in another era, I'd be a master tradesman in some craft by now.
I've said for a long time that I didn't know crap by the time I was 20 and most of what I've learned that matters in life came from working on the job and learning from my mistakes when I didn't have my parents to fall back on.
When I think back on all the crap I learned in High School, it's a wonder I can think at all....

Yeah.... took a day and a half off. Woke up this morning to caulk the porch, but it was a high of 39 today, so I took to bagging 32 thirty gallon bags of leaves. I would have finished the other 8 or so bags before sundown, but there was a freak 10 minute blizzard that ruined all motivation to remain outside in this crappy weather. 
Oh well....
Assuming the weathermen aren't completely wrong about the next two days like they were today, I should have the porch caulked and painted by saturday night and truly be done with the outdoor work by mid weekend!
No hurry on the dating thing ATM. 
I'm the sort that is so messed up that I haven't been able to finish the porch yet that the last two days I haven't been able to get back into the basement to keep doing work I was on such a roll with before I stepped away to finish the outside stuff. I've got a house now though, which is a major thing, and no debt, which is another major thing..... Just need to get the house up to at least livable standards for any future Mrs. 6's out there, and get a job and then I'll focus on that.
I can be one hell of a boyfriend when I want to be, problem is, I'm not much of anything else when that's going on. Too much to do now for that kind of distraction.

Nah.... nothing like that. It's not as if I have a calendar and I'm counting the days until I'm 50 to "end it all".... Just saying that I enjoy the things I enjoy, such as smoking more than my share, and I don't expect to be around by the time I'd be of age to collect SSI benefits that likely won't exist anymore anyways.
Funny thing is I recently found out my Grandpa on my dad's side always said the same thing. He ended up making it until he was 62 though (at least my grandma has been able to benefit slightly from his SSI and from his union pension, even though he died before he could take advantage of any of it).
Thanks about the bro. I'm happy my Dad has him because he's made a lifetime habit about being as helpful to people as he can be as I do with my many different focuses. I just hope that they can get him on the right path before it starts putting a strain on his and my step-mom's relationship.

Haha.... yup. Something about the RWED brings out the worst in a lot of folk, even though there has been some good that has come from conversations there......
I know that I can be downright dark if I hang out there for too long. Fortunately, I have too much to do most of the time these days to spend any meaningful time in there. My advice to most of the frequent posters in RWED today would be to find a much more productive and enjoyable hobby.
I finished painting the porch the other day (Sherwin Williams, of course). It looks SWEET!!! I had absolutely no real outdoor work left to do yesterday when it was a beautiful, mid-November, 62 degrees and sunny day, so I just F-d off all day long and enjoyed the weather. It was kind of nice, actually.
It kind of nagged at me though all of the days last week spent raking leaves and caulking/painting that porch while it was windy and overcast and 30-40 degrees though.
Back in the basement today....
Man... you never really know how dirty your floors are until you take a mop and bleach to them, do you? I knew with all the work that had been done so far in the basement that they weren't clean by any means, but a 3 gallon bucket with 1/3rd gallon of bleach was damn near toxic-dead mold-sludge going down the sink when it was over. (I really need to install a slop-sink in the basement so I don't have to disinfect my kitchen sink after doing work like that in the future)
Me-thinks I'll have to mop it at least two more times, and the rough spots will have to be scrubbed down hard. Anywhere that the old water heater was dragged/sat has some rust in the grout that really needs to be taken care of. But all in all it looks fantastic down there now compared to this morning. Not to mention how great it smells.
So tomorrow I will be finishing primering the studs that haven't been hit yet, taking a wire brush to the cracks and crevasses for a second time, mopping and scrubbing once again and hopefully by Friday I'll have all of the pits between the ceramic tiles and the tracks for the walls filled with concrete and ready to caulk for the weekend.
If all goes according to plan, much of this work is largely overkill since I hope to never have a flood that escapes the crawlspace with the preparations I will be making, but ask all of the peeps Noah didn't invite on his boat about how failing to plan is planning to fail.
My basement will be more watertight than a duck's ass when I'm done, and even better I'll have the pics to prove all the work had been done behind the scenes if I ever plan to sell the house in the future.
Here's hoping I'll have my own washer and dryer installed in the basement late next week! It will be so nice not to have to drive somewhere else to do laundry.
Oh yeah.... this house will pretty much be a home by then, so I can actually spend some serious time looking for a job (for real).
Lots of stuff to do, don't get me wrong, but everything else is largely cosmetic.

Hey brother, you are gonna have to post some finished picks when everything is said and done.
Other than that, I strongly recommend a home theater. You can get an HD projector(Panasonic AE4000 accept no substitute) and quality screen for under $2K. Fucking phenomenal. 12 years ago you would have to pay around $50,000....for a projector that isn't even half as good as the current Panny 4000. Set up a room with a 120" screen, and enjoy your favorite shows/movies in style.
By the way, I don't work for Panasonic, It's just a kick ass projector.

I've got a 51" screen right now, but it's the last gen rear projection Hitatchi. It's a kick ass TV (especially since I don't have to haul it anywhere anymore). You can view it from any angle and the picture is still clear... it doesn't go black if you're not facing it directly like the older tech.
The only problem is it's a monster on the electricity. I only really break that bad boy out when I'm entertaining and use the old 27" Sony Trinitron for normal viewing.
As for the pics.... Already on top of it. Here's a look at what I've done so far.

I've got some alterations to make to a bunch of the photos up there (rotating and naming the sets so they make more sense, mostly), and I have a lot to add still, but you can get an idea of what the hell I've been yammering on about now.
