While i don't give a dam about the fact that Sean Maher reveals he's gay, it seems that things haven't changed that much in Hollywood from the time when the Hollywood majors production companies decided about the professional and private life of the actors who were under contract with them.

It was the time when producers "auditioned" the starlets on the couch of their office and they decided who was dating who for the interest of the majors. It was unthinkable at the time for a male star to reveal he was gay (Rock Hudson for example) and it was forbidden to make an allusion to homosexuality in movies at the time (Hays code).

Not overly surprising, actually...

I've had this impression since reading the companions that Jewel'd been kinda crushing on Sean. Summer too. Good response on twitter from her though.

A bunch of fangirls heard this and there was much ecstatic rejoicing.

Also, this only makes me more sure that in Firefly Kaylee writes indiscriminate fanfiction slash pairing all the guys she knows together.

I got the impression he might be gay the first time I saw Sean on Firefly. Of course, I also thought Simon was gay. Obviously, I'm not surprised. I have good friends who are gay and I am aware of how difficult coming out can be. So Sean, here's a big bear hug for you. Best wishes to you and yours.
