Trust me, it takes no arm twisting to get me there, I was chomping at the bit wishing I could be there this year (been living vicariously through folks photos).
Marching with the 76th and frankly hanging out with the battalion was the highlight of the trip (that and Mark Sheppard recognizing my sn from and giving me a hug). Really missing my 76th family.
Hey, speaking of DC, how was it, I may be "retired" Captain here but gorramit report!!!!!!!!
I hear you Art. Plans kind of fell together for us last minute and we went on a whim, glad I did as I haven't been in two years and I had really been missing it. Hung with the family Thursday evening on the 10th floor of the Marriott at the rally point, caught up a bit, there was much talkin' and eatin', and all that huggin' that goes on at those things. The parade on Saturday was as much fun as I remembered and the feeling of pride marching with the 76th and in support of the fandom really is always a highlight for me.
Being as there's so many distractions we didn't see much of the family after the parade as we all headed off for different panels or tracks, but bumping into them in the lobbies, dealer rooms, or exhibit rooms always leads to the requisite hugging and chatting.
D*C is pretty much just as you remember it. Way too crowded, even spread out over four host hotels, tons of great costumes (some not so much), lots to see and do, and always way too short.
If you can make it next year Art that would be shiny!

I can't wait until D*C... it'll be my first convention ever, and I'll be marching with the 76th!

Heck of a first con! But you will be in good company, with the 76th, so funny aside from when I was actively searching for them at the con, there was almost always at least one visible.

I'll take your word for it! It's a long way between now and then, but that gives me time to buy my uniform items...

:) Once piece at a time, it comes together pretty nicely. I pull mine out and look at it sometimes, hoping to be marching with you next year.

Speaking of uniforms, is anyone still selling the Independent Army Patch and the battalion patch? Haven't seen anything recent on those...
