Lost my mother to cancer in 2001. Again, am an only child. Dealing with all the practical stuff takes time. There will be plenty of 'Coats watching the shop while you're away.

I'm sorry for your family's loss and I'm glad that you're there to support your wife through all of this. Handling an estate is hard but losing a parent is way harder. And I hope that her mom has the strength to keep fighting.
