Jewel Staite at Vulcan Events in Orlando

Hi, this is my first post on this site...and not really sure if this is in the right spot.

I am going to the Vulcan Events Away Mission:Orlando at the end of Oct and was wondering if anyone else is going from this site.

this is the website and you can see the stars and events, Patrick Stewart is the main attraction(sorry that makes him sound like a Disney ride) and Jewel Staite is one of the other big stars :)

She is the only reason I am even going. It will be my first convention and I'm kinda scared because I will be going alone and I dont watch any Star Trek which seems to be bringing in alot of the fans. I hope that there will be other Jewel Fans there!!

If anyone from this site is going to the event, I would love to chat :)

I'm hoping to attend! I'll be going mainly for Jewel as well. I do love Star Trek, but I am not willing to face the intense crowds of fans that will be there for Sir Patrick. Jewel, on the other hand, I will. ;)

I've been attending conventions for many years now, some of which I've gone alone, and others I've been with friends. Both have their unique experiences. What I mainly do is find one or two big things that I must do while I'm there, and then after those tasks have been accomplished, I randomly plunk myself down in a panel that seems interesting from the hallway.

You'll have a lot of fun, I'm sure! As time gets closer and I figure out what I'm wearing (if I'm wearing a costume), I can let you know in case you want a buddy to keep you company. :)

I went to the Vulcan Events con last year in Tampa. It's strength is in the guests it books, but it's weakness is the lack of merchandise for sale, very little of that. But they do get great guests to attend that rarely go to other cons.

Go! Go! Go! Conventions are fun! You'll love it! Go!

Excuse my enthusiasm, but I recently got a job after 2 years' unemployment, and i'm already anticipating going to more cons next year.

You will hate yourself if you don't. Fear not; you will not be alone. Every con has newbies; many of them actually cater to them, holding little sessions to explain what you can expect.
