I'm kind of a prude. ^_^' You'll see every now and then I'll be reading some fanfic and chatting with the author, and then they'll post something that's M or NC-17, and I won't comment on that chapter, but return to commenting on the next one.

Interesting that, the idea of bringing people's fanfic into other discussions, I've never seen it happen and I'm surprised now that I think on it, that its never happened before. When I said trashy stories I didn't mean fanfic, I meant the articles that PN sometimes posts that have trashy and hideous titles that make people say ew. But maybe he writes trashy fanfic too, I don't know since I don't read it here, one day a week of reading and reviewing on fanfiction.net is all I have time for when it comes to fanfic, though I've had people asking me to come read here and review. I just don't have time.
I just want everyone, including PN, to feel safe, content and fulfilled in their lives, touchy feely I know but I can't help it, its how I feel. I know PN doesn't really feel those things currently, because people who do don't post mean old stuff like those bizarro articles, unless he just posts them to be a snot and doesn't actually believe all the paranoia in them, which is possible too. But maybe someday he'll get there. At any rate I'm glad he likes outer space articles, keeping up on current events and animal stories and racing, those are cool things.
Oh, and on fanfic.net I don't venture into the M section so if someone has an M fic they want me to read they have to ask me specifically and I'll consider it.

There is no such thing as totally free speech. You're not allowed to shout fire in a crowded theatre, there are laws against slander and libel plus endless copyright restrictions. But the simplest reason why people like PirateNews should be banned is they're pure poison to a place like this. When every other thread is started by someone like him, with titles that are racist, homophobic, anti-semitic or all three, anyone who is a new Firefly fan will come here, see those threads and think "What a bunch of assholes" and leave, never to be seen again.
However, it's entirely Haken's choice - this is his site, his rules, his decision.

But everything PN has posted is. Being an asshole is not illegal.

Illegal? Probably not (though I would have thought he could be done for slander).
But FFF.net is a private internet forum run by an individual who can set any standards he chooses. PirateNews has no entitlement to post here, it's simply at Haken's allowance that he can do so. The slight catch is the way he posts, the amount he posts and what he posts has actively contributed to killing the forum.
Which makes me a bit sad.
